So the new X5 will get old cluster gauges! ... Unlike the new one interduced in the 8-series concept ... even the new 3-series G20 is getting the latest one!

The size of those kidney grills are actually an affront at this point. BMW needs to cool it with them, they don't need to be the size of my 7 year old sister for people to know it's a BMW. I'm actually really scared to think what this and the X7 are gonna look like without the camo and their Paul Wall faces staring back at me

I wouldn't put too much into the 'old cluster' gauge, as remember that BMW AG manufacturing is attempting to reduce the number of different parts per vehicle with streamlining of parts for economics of scale pricing. I highly doubt the new digital cluster will only be sourced for the X7 and expect that the new X5 & X6 will also have. The test mule might be for a different market, as today there are different cluster options such as 6WB.

The screen within the AC controls is what was mentioned as the '3rd screen' for the G80 (M3) rumors. Notice that there is no DVD drive slot, about time it was removed.

The interior will be fine, these are test mules. But I have blinders on for any other brand besides BMW, especially supporting my local state economy by having a X vehicle in my fleet proudly made in SC.

Anyone else notice these switches? One of them labeled "Off-road" and the other looks to be a height indicator.

Didn't know air suspension like a cayenne or discovery was going to be an option...?

It will probably be getting the new digital dashboard, as it was also seen on the upcoming G20 3 Series, but what I believe is that it will either be an option or exclusive to certain packages, and the older style digital gauges with metal rings will possibly be the base dash design

I d like if BMW's interior had gone full digital in line with the competition..

These Germans like to delay 6-7 years and be the last follower in technology

2019 and they are the only premium brand with so many buttons in the interior in a future model (ok X2 and M2 that were just released still have ........ analogue cluster )

Are they aiming to old people who dont like changes ?

Current x5 is a great car, but I end up to buy a range rover sport for my wife. The look, sound and drive( less body roll, air suspension) of Range Rover sport is far more satisfying than x5.
Hopefully the new x5 is a more capable car.

Actually if you really study the pics and zoom real close you'll see lots of the buttons are fake and the center council is also just a mock-up.

The camo is more than just on the outside and more than just covers on the inside. I'm a designer in the auto industry and it's all a game we show what we want and it keeps people and the competition guessing.

I guarantee it will look completely different and the digital cluster is just that. It can show whatever it wants. They can update it with the latest images before release and everyone thinks it's being made with the old cluster.

Remember you can't really trust any of these pics as to what it will look like.

And just because one model had shown to much doesn't mean everyone will.

It's like this old video. They make panels to throw you off. Same with the inside. Lots of the buttons are just fake or graphics and not real. Then wrap it again in more camo. And they get better every year!

that steering wheel is busy with buttons like a GM. how the heck is this safe when you have to look at the thing while driving. too much for finger memory. they could have at least eliminated the most useless "set" button for the cruise control. I'm not sure if anyone even use it.

Updated November 9, 2016

The previous G05 X5 models spied were early chassis testing mules which were helpful only to signal that the next gen X5 was already in testing and due within the next couple of years. Now that the mules have moved from their frankenstein mashup stage, we can finally make out actual production styling, size and proportions.

The biggest change so far appears to the the kidney grilles which have now been stretched vertically and slant forward aggressively. Also visible now are the air intakes in the front bumper, new rear end, and exhaust tips. The head and tail lights remain fake, but the rest of the prototype shows the all new BMW X5.

Expect the G05 X5 to be revealed sometime later next year. Follow our X5 (G05) coverage @ http://www.bimmerpost.com/x5/g05/

January 19, 2016:
The current F15 X5 isn't exactly long in the tooth, but the next generation BMW X5 (G05) is already undergoing testing, much earlier than usual during the current model's life cycle.

What is interesting is that the rumors point to NO LCI refresh for the current F15 X5 with a direct move to the next G05 chassis instead.

Hopefully the new x5 is a more capable car.
My parents have been loyal X5 customers and have had several over the years. But they never "upgraded" to the F15 because it's driving dynamics are diluted and it doesn't look or feel that different inside or out from their E70. Their 2013 carbon black X5 M sport still looks bada** to this day and drives extremely nice with that heavy steering.

They've been looking at the RR Sport as well because it's more exclusive and sexy inside and out. However, it's also not that "fun" to drive outside the power. They'll wait a few months to see the new X5 then make a decision.

Will there ever be a point in time where someone at BMW's design HQ says: "Stop it, the kidneys are way too big already!".

I can't support this movement that the kidneys have to get bigger and bigger with each new model.

Remember the first iPhone?

Remember when the first iPhone came out and many (old) people said a "real" phone has to have "real" buttons?

Someone want to send that memo to BMW?!

What do they think this is, a Porsche?!?!

Unless you're still rockin' a flip phone, you know this is the future...
