Nice review, I love the look of the Alfas. I'd likely be driving a 4C Spider right now had I been able to physically enter the vehicle for a test drive.

Funny you say that.

I too eyed the 4C. Them suckers are going for around $40k now.

I have the 95% mindset that I will not fit in it (6 foot 6 inches), but I have not had the ability to rest out my but in a seat yet to 100% confirm.

I'm 6'5 and 240, I couldn't enter the car no matter which way I tried (sales team had a nice laugh). Unless you're Gumby, at 6'6 you can absolutely forget it. You'll have to be like me and admire it from the outside.

Big reason I had to get an M4 over the M3, huge doors and plenty of room on the M4. Trying to get into an M3 was very difficult.

And I'm 6-4, 230ish. No way in heck. I could barely shoehorn myself into the passenger seat for a ride-along with the auto journo (Him: 5-7, about 185) who had the 4C at the time.

And the problem isn't just the usual headroom/lateral support/torso length issues. It's everything. The seat back doesn't recline much because the bulkhead is so forward in the monocoque design ... and related to that: there is not enough leg room for anyone with more than a 32-inch inseam. The seat won't go far back enough.

That experience, which was back in late 2015, immediately raised a red flag regarding Alfa's U.S.-market reentry, so that none of its reliability and miscalculation issues now surprise me. It reminded me of the issues Honda and Toyota had in the mid- to late-1980s with taller U.S. and Euro folks not fitting in some of its larger cars. (Example: I couldn't test drive a Prelude. I could test drive a Del Sol. WTF?) They fixed those issues because it cost them significant sales. Alfa's never really even tried.

I test drive the Stelvio quad and absolutely loved it. But given the reports of time in the shop and maintenance costs itís hard to justify at its current price. Maybe when I can scoop one from Carmax for $40k and slap a 5 year 100k mile warranty on it.

Clarkson drives one in the attached video, he's got to be 6'6", I can't find his whole review but if I recall he said it was one off, if not his favourite car ever. I love the thing except no stick and Alfa reliability and resale but damn it is sex on wheels.

I bet you're thinking of the Disco Volante (the one on the right, not the gorgeous 8C). I'm 6'2" with a 33" inseam and I can drive the 4C, but I'd need traction for any trip over an hour.

No surprise, but here's the 4C pilot:

I don't know, I'm pretty sure it was a 4C but I could be wrong.

Hmm, I am 6'6 and little less weight and have no problem getting in a M4 or M3, even an M2.

Its all personal perspective.

I really want to like these Alfas.

But they just feel so low-rent once you get inside them. From their "meh" designs to mediocre material and build quality. Even mid-00s Bangle BMWs were built to a higher standard.

Same issues with Maseratis. The Levante I drove was dressed up inside and still felt very "Jeepish."

Trying to spell it is also laughable. I just pray I type close enough that the spell checker catches it.

When I was inside this Stelvio Quadrifoglio it truly felt special. Not as meh as a 4C.

4C quality reminded me of an F430/Scuderia. Where you still see the carbon fiber glued to certain spots.

The SUV was special, like one step below a Porsche SUV and on par with a BMW SUV.
