X5 50i M - Spark Plugs

Hi all,

i just bought a G05 trading in my older F15 model.

i wanted to check if the spark plug issue has carried over to the newer car?
ie my old F15 50i used to eat spark plugs - i had to change them every 50000km or otherwise end up with shuddering and pull off issues.

is this the same with the G05 engine or has this been resolved?

thanks

Pretty sure it's every 60k miles. I just did them this weekend, and mine looked like they could another 20-30k?

Looking at my manual the X5M requires a change at every 30K miles. I just did the change on my car with 26K and the plugs looks almost new. Nevertheless the swap of plugs and coil packs (didn't have to change this but wanted a fresh set) made the car idle just a tad smoother. One thing to note is that my car came with Denso japanese plugs and the part that getbmwparts.com said for my car were Bosch plugs with the ///M logo on them. Stock plugs were gapped at .028 so i did the same for the new ones.

Pretty easy job on the V8. Took me 2 hours and that was taking my time and cleaning around the engine while i was in there. Looks intimidating at first but once you remove the airbox its very straight forward. Even the plugs closes to the firewall weren't an issue at all. Just make sure you have a low profile spark plug socket and a assortment of extension lengths so you can find a combo that works.

I thought the service for the X5M called out for a spark plug change at the 3 year mark, no matter the mileage on vehicle?

pretty sure mine said it for 30K but either way i guess i was due for a change regardless. I went ahead and did the coil packs too since they weren't expensive.

Worth it for me because I noticed the engine is just a tad smoother now.
