X5 M50D G05 aftermarket crystal gear knob change problem

Hi Guys,
im new to Bimmerpost and i need some help before i take my car to any1,
i was trying to change the aftermarket crystal knob (from china)and now my car got stuck in P and doesn't change any gear, some say the little tape wire got damaged and some saying your gear module need to be change.
please some 1 help me out what to do and what caution i need to take.

Did you unplug both batteries before attempting to change the gear knob? I’ve heard stories from people attempting without disconnecting the batteries and they had to replace the entire console.(they also had to tow the car to the nearest dealership since it’s not engaging gears)

Usually, aftermarket crystal shifters do not require additional programming. Power it up after you install it and everything will be ok. So did you disconnect the power before installation?
