Transfer Case Replacement Disaster xdrive50i 19'
Hi All..point of this story, make sure the dealer installs it correctly, if you are getting it replaced…make they secure the ground cable behind the case!
Transfer case replaced last week under CPO, went on road trip, car cut off in middle of interstate lost all braking, etc. almost crashed, but I glided into a gravel shoulder in construction zone. All electronics going nuts and car shut down completely, all dead. BMW roadside sent the wrong truck…flat bed…he said he wouldn’t take it, they then sent a rollback, took a total of 4 hours, which it was dark While waiting for the second truck…this old pickup truck slows down to like 30 mph about 100 ft in front of my car (it’s dark out) Not sure why..car slammed into the back of him…I then run up there an old man is covered in blood with an oxygen tank…I called 911, everyone came fire, ambulance etc. got it then to safety. I’m then left in the dark again..tow truck shows up 30 min later towed to dealer. The towed to Dealer told me my hometown dealer didn’t connect the ground cable right cussing the car to shutdown. Such a mess!!! Cost 1209 to reset and new battery, which my home dealer paid, but still so scary!!!! I’m a bit uncomfortable driving it right now, hopefully the love will come back! |

Ugh thats a crazy story!!!
Glad everyone was ok at the end. This is why i rather pay out of pocket and do most of the work on my car myself or at a trusted mechanic while i watch over their work. I just don't trust most "techs" at dealerships. Granted a transfer case isn't something you could have done nor want to pay out of pocket for so you had no choice here. Alan
