After 2 weeks of being en route from Spartanburg to California, our car has transitioned from "In transit" back to "At the port". As I understand it, that means it has reached the VPC in Oxnard. Now we see how long it takes to get it on a truck and up the coast.
With things in lockdown, it's a minor miracle that anything is progressing. Gotta keep things in perspective. |

Not so relevant but I just wanted to share with you all. My buddy ordered a custom build Audi A7 in late February 2020 and put in a deposit. The Audi dealer called him today and told him that they will issue a full refund of his deposit because production of his A7 in Germany has become highly uncertain. My friend wasn’t upset and actually quite happy because he already traded in his Audi TT to the same dealer and received cash like two months ago. He wanted to get rid of the 2 seater for a long time. Now my buddy got rid of it without having a new loan for an A7.

In my country, all BMW dealerships are now open since 20th. I would assume this might soon happen across all Europe!?
Still, doesn't help the cause until US factory opens

Some news on my side : My dealer believes the car is with a transportation company (GEFCO) but the BMW central storage is closed. He will try to have the car delivered to the dealership directly ... Would be nice. But a lot of uncertainty and definitely no dates...
That would mean the car made it to Europe at least, maybe even France... Let's see what happens next ! |

If production is opening 4th May they must be expecting franchised dealers to open as well otherwise there will be a mass build up in storage if buyers can’t take collection of cars once they have left the assembly and been shipped?

Don't you think that would depend what market they start producing for ? ..... a number of countries are already open for business and/or shipping time is still pretty long once they leave the factory.

That’s a fair point I hadn’t thought of that. Although most of the main European markets are still closed so hopefully positive news.

So with the re-opening of Spartanburg ahead, has anybody got an update from the dealer with the new production week?

My X5 45e has slipped 2 weeks since I last checked which was before the shutdown.
I am not sure if that is because of the shutdown or not, I plan on checking again in a couple of weeks when they are back and running. |

My dealer immediately responded to my mail, they will receive a new production date next week. Let's hope it is good news.
