Hi all,

Been lurking since I ordered my X5, but now that it's left the factory and on it's way, I thought I would say hi. I've had a bunch of BMWs over the years, but mostly racecars. Although, we used to have an E53 4.4 that was great (except for engine maintenance!) and an F31 m-sport that I still miss quite often.

Here is the timeline of my order:
- 4/9, order placed using an April allocation
- 4/23, confirmed for production in week 20
- 5/3, VIN assigned
- 5/16, entered assembly line
- 5/22, dispatched from the factory

Here are the order details:
- 2021 X5 xDrive40i
- M Sport
- Phytonic Blue Metallic
- 741M wheels
- Black Extended Merino Leather
- Aluminum Tetragon trim
- Executive Package
- Luxury Seating Package
- M Sport Brakes with Red Calipers
- Extended Shadowline Trim
- Heated Front Seats, Armrests & Steering Wheel
- Trailer Hitch
- Harman Kardon surround sound system
- Space-saver spare

This will be my new daily driver and tow vehicle when needed for my wife's E36 M3 Sedan track car. Hoping to make this into my version of an X5 M40i in the near future. A few parts are already on order to make this happen.

Speaking of parts, this just got delivered. Will have the dealer install prior to delivery.

Is that the M-Performance exhaust? And congrats! I'm patiently awaiting my 40i to arrive as well

Thanks! Please post video/sound clips once you get it installed. The stock 40i was too quiet for me during the test drive, so hopefully the M-Performance creates a noticeable difference as I would definitely be in the market for one.

I agree, the stock exhaust is a bit quiet. I liked the X3 M40i when I drove it, so hoping for something like that.

There are a couple videos that were posted here and it sounds good, but maybe a bit "weed wacker"-ish. Also listened to the sound clip on the M Performance Sound Player. If it's somewhere in the middle, I'll be happy. It's gotta sound better then my Mk7 GTI does, which doesn't sound half bad for a 4-cylinder turbo.

It has arrived! I was a bit worried based on some other posts, but it did include the HK option in the build. I get to pick it up on Saturday after they add front window tint and install the M Performance Exhaust.

Should have just ordered a X5 M and be done with it.

Those shutters for the radiator are just something to go out. Did on my wife's previous 2108 model the M models do not have them. One reason I bought it in fact.

Can you advise the part numbers for the exhaust please? My dealer said there is one coming out soon in the U.K. (it wasn't out earlier due to PPF regulations).

Fuel Mileage??? I drive a 2021 Ram TRX beast most of the time.

Sure! Here are the part numbers that I ordered:
18-30-2-458-780 - BMW M PERFORMANCE EXHAUST SYSTEM - 40i ENGINE
18-30-9-909-376 - Hex bolt
18-30-7-935-435 - Exhaust system holder
18-30-8-631-988 - Rubber mount

Not sure why the exhaust doesn't come with the 3 other parts that are required, but that's what you have to order.

Hey snickryder, where did you monitor the build and timelines for your car? I jus set up my BMW account and was hoping the factory build would be there when I put in VIN. Thanks for any help !!!!!!! Like the Wheels on that car!!!!!

Login to My BMW (https://securelogin.bmwusa.com/), then click My Garage where you can Add Vehicle using either an order number or VIN. Once you've added the vehicle to your garage, there should be a "track status" option to follow along as your car goes through the build stages. Hope that helps!

Picked up the X5 today and brought it home. I can confirm that the M Performance Exhaust is exactly what I was hoping it would be. Which is good, cause it wasn't cheap. LOL! Anyway, it's subtle and quiet when you are cruising and loud and aggressive when you want it to be.

Yes, it's loud on cold startup, but that goes away quickly and on hot idle, you can barely hear it. As soon as the weather clears a bit, I'll get some videos of cold/hot starts, comfort/sport and inside/outside for reference. After 80 miles, it's just what I was looking for.

1MA M Sport exhaust system is standard and only available on M50i. While similar, MPE has a different exhaust resonator.

Quick question on the HK (and space saver spare) - were you able to see these on the website, or were these options added through the configurator separately? I'm unable to find these options on BMWUSA builder anymore.

HK is gone but the space saver is still available. Are you perhaps building a 45e, it is not available for that.
