The software in the 25 is not great.

Put car in reverse, back up camera engages. If you choose to interact with the climate control, radio, etc, the camera goes away. The only way to get it to reengage is to put the car in park and start over.

The climate control fan is odd. It's either blowing like a hurricane or a slight whisper.

Autoplaying media is annoying, at best. Unlocking the car and it starts playing whatever was last played. A bit of an issue if you are listening to podcasts or music that are not kid friendly. Unloading the car....media keeps playing. If the car can sense when I leave, and honk twice, it can sense I am not in the car and stop playing media.

I still love the car...BMW just need to do some real world focus group research.

My pre LCI doesn't do that. Radio or whatever I was playing, does not automatically turn on for any reason unless I manually turn it on. When I finish a drive where I had music playing, I pull in the garage, manually turn off the music, put it in park and shut the car down. That's my default routine.
Next time I open any door, the music does not auto play. Next time I get in and start it, the music is not playing. On my screen I have three widgets showing as my default view of which music is one and I can see exactly where the song was when I last turned it off and it simply stays that was till I manually turn it on. This is how I believe it should work.

BMW's 2024 cars are pretty crude in this respect. If the radio was turned on when my '65 E Type was shut off it waits until the car is started before turning on the radio. I would think that after almost 60 years the Germans could catch up with the Brits in this simple area of technology.

Hard to believe it works like that, I mean, why??? Why would they do that? They inventing something new? You sure you didn't miss a confusing setting somewhere that to us means one thing but to the germans means something else in regards to this, it just blows my mind why anyone would want this.

I have not found a way to disable this "feature". Every time I open a front door when the car is off the radio starts and then I have to shut it off by locking the car or entering the vehicle to turn off the radio.

The radio coming on is annoying enough but the Bluetooth fires up as well and connects to my phone. I have had several instances where I was trying to receive a call in my living room but no sound came through because it is playing through the car in the garage. C'mon BMW, you can do better.

Very bizarre behavior. Maybe this is an LCI issue only, don't know but why not try rebooting iDrive, then painstakingly go through all your settings that might have anything to do with audio/media and if you end up changing even one of those settings, once done reboot iDrive again. Got nothing to lose.

Just press the park-view button on the console. No need to change gears.

It can be turned off in Idrive. I’ll go through the menu and post the steps. It’s some “convenience” feature

It is the “Welcome Light" or "Comfort Access" setting within your car's iDrive system that makes this happen.

I find this 'feature' quite annoying as well. Just need to get some stuff from the car and then the radio or spotify starts to blast on the parking lot. I just want to turn it on when I press Start on the 'engine'. I haven't found this setting in iDrive yet.

2024 50e here. Mine does not do this - at least with any volume on. I typically push the radio volume button in when I stop listening to music. To start it up, I rotate the volume button which is kind of weird as you would think logically to push it and start the radio. I think it is never truly off. At least it doesn’t blast music when I get in though. Now I am curious and will leave the volume up before shutting the car down to see what it does when I enter the car again.

I believe you can just press the Parking Assistance button to reengage the camera.

Ok so I tested mine out (2024 50e) if I leave the radio volume up before shutting it down and leaving, whenI return and unlock, the radio remains off until I press the start button - where it co es on at the orevious set volume. I verified this twice so it must be a software issue you are having or …. they changed it for 2025.

It’s music better than any radio to me.
I do realised thag no matter what is my car music volume when I engine off, it will default to a certain level everytime I turn on th car. Is that thw default?

This is not the behavior I have witnessed in several BMW X5 and X7 LCI vehicles. I owned a 2024 50e that was bought back and I now have a 2025 50e and I have also had a 2024 X7 as a loaner. All of them had the same issue: when you return to the vehicle (after you have shut it down and exited) and open a front door the iDrive fires up and music starts playing at the previous volume setting. You cannot shut it down with the start button but you can turn off the music with the volume button but iDrive will stay fired up for several minutes after you close the door. You can shut iDrive off immediately if you lock the car which is what I usually do in my garage if I need to retrieve something from the car. There is no setting in iDrive to disable this annoying feature that I have found.

There is a setting to turn off the audio when the engine is stopped and the door is opened which will do as described and then the audio will be off when opening the door later.

Remote started this morning via app. Music was still muted when I jumped in the car and drove to work.

Maybe this is a spotify thing? Or maybe I need to test with manual unlocking/starting the car instead of remote starting. I will do this on my way home today and see if the music starts when I open the door.

Edit: just went to my car, unlocked it, open driver side. Music is still muted. I watch the screen complete the boot-up process until I saw the welcome screen. No music so I locked it up and went back inside.

No one is saying that the "mute" is not persistent during as many lock/unlock or open/close sequences you want. The issue is that iDrive boots up every time you open a front door to do anything in the vehicle. If you don't mind hitting the mute button every time you turn off and exit your vehicle then the music will be muted when you return. However, this should not be required and iDrive booting up causes other issues like bluetooth connection to phones which is a problem if you want to receive a call in your house and audio/calls go to your car parked in your garage.

I called the BMW Genius yesterday about this issue and one other. He said the only way to prevent the radio from coming on when you open a door is to lock the doors when you leave. He said they get a lot of complaints about the way it operates now.

There is a difference between how the car responds if the door is locked when you exit and when the car is left unlocked. My car is unlocked when I leave it in my garage and I have no intention of locking the car in my garage. I open the doors of the X5 occasionally when it's in the garage and this BMW "feature" is supremely annoying. At the present time I'm manually turning off the radio before I exit the car, not my preferred option.

Come on BMW! this is an asinine way for a car to operate. Every other modern car shuts down after you shut off the ignition and open a car door and doesn't turn back on until you push the ignition button again. Why can't you do it that way?

That is not my experience in several LCI vehicles. They all do indeed shut down iDrive and audio once the car is turned off and the door is opened but when returning to the vehicle at any time after iDrive will boot up and audio will start based on your previous volume setting.
