I was told way back in my 20s by a smokin' hot 30-something coworker that men get bald spots from doing u-turns under the covers.

I can't raise my hand because I have a full head of hair, but it's not from lack of trying!

The sales people of encyclopedias went the way of the Dodo bird with the invent of the Internet.
Maybe it was better back then, keeping everyone's mind corralled.

With the advent of the internet, sales of encyclopedias plummeted...only World Book still publish theirs...the rest are gone.

I remember when . .

My dad used to get his annual updates to the West Law books he had. He had a set in his office and a set in the kitchen at home. Long boxes and boxes of these things came each year. Open the box. Find the statute covers, pull the old one out of the back of the book (they had built-in pockets) put the new one in. Carefully place the old one back in the box so I could repeat the process at home.

When he passed and I went to clean out his office, I couldn't give those books away. Now it's an online, searchable reference. I had to PAY to throw those all away, two pickup trips to teh dump.

You can go back to the older version now since Pluto was demoted.

We had both. I think Britannica was the first set my mom bought. It was kind of “old time-y”. I never liked or used Britannica very much.

The other cool thing was going to look up something and then spending a few hours reading about everything under the sun before you got to what you actually went looking for.

Speaking of encyclopedias who remembers Microsoft Encarta?

Not as old as the others, plus was on CD-ROM or DVD. 💿

My kids loved it.

I still do that today, every time I go into the garage or my shop.
Sometimes I even remember why I went there also.

This happened a decade ago. I went to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and somewhere along the way I got connected with a young guy. Anyway, we were sitting outside the exhibition hall and I guess we got to talking some about age. And hair color. I’m kind of a dark blonde, but definitely blonde, and that’s what I mainly see when I look in the mirror. I do definitely have gray at the temples and on the sides, but I still see mostly blonde. Anyway, I asked him what color hair he would describe my hair as and he said “gray”! Ugh!! I was shocked! That hurt my heart a little.

Okay, this is not looking good, because I cannot remember how we met. We must have started talking while looking at a car. Okay, now as I’m thinking, I was staying in a Detroit hostel and he must have either also been going to the auto show or somehow decided to go while I was there. Because, I’m remembering now we went to a bar and grill to eat after we left the show and on the way back to the hostel. Regardless, I can’t quite believe I can’t remember the details. You know you’re old when…
