They look good, better ride quality than the 30/35?

I got 30s thread and Pirelli’s
But what is your feel for Continental tires? I feel Pirelli’s pick up every single bloody pothole and little cracks Im driving over I really love these tires for highway / fast driving but for every day driving, I feel like R20 / 21s would’ve been much more comfortable and practical |

Absolutely! Just drove up and back to Mammoth Lakes from Los Angeles with these tires. They performed incredibly and can not imagine doing this trip comfortably with stock sizes, especially off pavement.

How does it affect your tachometer, any idea? also, where did you get them installed, I see Discount Tire won't install a tire not OEM size.

As far as the tachometer, there is no error compared to stock. The visualizer I've attached, also checking Waze, and radar speed signs confirm this. Last edited by elJames; 07-05-2024 at 09:10 AM.. |

Gorgeous. Two questions, are you running spacers because the fitment is perfect. What model do you have?

Are you on air or the standard springs? I’ve got an M50i with the MSport suspension and looking to take the bite off the ride quality a bit. You mentioned you noticed the difference immediately, do you mind describing which qualities are improved?

I was coming from the stock Continental PC6 so my experience may be different if you're on Pirelli. My X5 felt "soupy" on them, especially at highway speeds. My steering wheel felt disconnected, and the tires made the car feel like it was never properly aligned. This spec changed all that and I feel like I'm driving a BMW again. Rather than running the stock "rubber bands", this size definitely gives me more comfort overall and more confidence on uneven surfaces and over potholes. The tires are really not that much bigger, but having a little more air is definitely noticeable. I'm in LA and the long highway drives feel better, the car feels more steady and squared at highway speeds. My wife and I are also frequent backpackers and snowboarders, so I needed a tire I could also use off pavement, and I did not have confidence using the stock profile to do that. This slightly taller tire spec (275/40R22 & 315/35R22) seems more appropriate for a car of this size and weight, and based on the current spy shots of the next gen X5, which in some photos is running this exact size, it seems like BMW has hopefully figured that out.

Beefier tires on 22" wheels is the best setup for the X5 and probably the single best mod you could do for the G05.
It looks great, fills out the wheel well, and give a more luxurious ride while still being sporty. elJames you're setup looks great with those tires, I still think it could use spacers(15mm/20mm) but just my opinion. |
