I've seen on ebay sellers saying that the 754M wheel from an X7 fits on the X5 just fine.

Can anyone confirm if this is true?

Has anyone actually done it. These wheels are nicer than the X5 21s IMO.

Asking does not hurt. You're most likely going to pay more and might not be able to get a warranty. Ask and see what they say!

They look like they should fit. They are ET 36 compared to the stype 741 ET 37, which is a negligible difference. Note that these wheels are going to be a square setup (all four the same width) rather than a staggered setup like the 741s.
