After an excellent handover from my BMW dealer - have now had the car for a couple of days and wanted to share some thoughts and photos.

In short - the car is incredible - its a massive leap on from my F15 M50d and far better than what I had hoped for.

Thoughts in no particular order:
  • It's an event just getting in the car and driving it - wasn't expecting that
  • It has incredible shove but doesn't feel fast in the sense that everything is pretty drama free - until you look down and realise you are going a lot quicker than you think
  • EU regs but quite happy with the engine noise - its got a great cold start and its lovely and bassy without being too shouty
  • There is a lot to get to grips with technology wise - I went for assistant pro and there is a lot of stuff to get used to with it. Its a very complex car - but user friendly so far and everything works very well
  • It looks fantastic - far better than photos make out - and I'm in love with Tanzanite!
  • The wheels are a really complex design (818Ms) - more deep dished than I thought they would be - lovely.
  • Interior - so glad I chose the Silverstone - its fantastic and really lifts the interior nicely - it feels properly luxurious in a way the old X5 never managed
  • Engine - compared to the M50d engine there is less surfing on the torque - you have to use the engine a little more - but when you use it OMG - fireworks...
  • Ride - this was a biggie - was really worried as have been reading a lot and most were saying its firm bordering on harsh. I had a brief TD and felt that it was firm but ok but now I've driven it on roads I know - it really isn't bad at all. It is firm but the edges are taken off the worst road imperfections and it gives the car a real planted feel. The quality of the damping is first rate - you can tell they have spent money here and it shows in the fact that whilst initial movement is firm it has a lovely secondary quality that means the car doesn't pitch around after the first movement. I really like this in a car as it makes you feel like you are gliding rather than constantly undulating. Not easy to pull off.

Overall - love it! Its a great addition to the stable and looking forward to many years driving it. Pics to follow!

Some Pictures!!

Looks great. Enjoy it. Makes me even more eager to get mine. Looks like mine got loaded on the train today at Spartanburg for its long train ride to the PDC in Oxnard.

Did they forget to remove the shipping blocks? I know many, myself included mention the huge wheel gap but that seems to be excessive??

Outside of that, looks great and congrats

Yeah it is a big gap - but not in the overall context of the car. That said I can see why people will want to lower it.

Did you double check the blocks were removed, bc your gap seems much more significant than others?

Ha - yes - maybe it's just the angles on the photos I took - it's not bad in real life.

Here's one from normal height - not noticeably large gaps but as said can see why people would want to lower

Sorry, just saw your reply.

2021 X5M

Alpine White
Black Full Merino Leather
Style 818M wheels
Carbon Fiber Trim
Competition Package
Driving Assistance Professional Package
Executive Package
Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System

It departed Spartanburg by train on 11/07. Expected arrival at VPC-SB on 11/17.

I have the Bill of Lading #, so I wish I could track the train. But looks like you need an account with the rail company to track it.
Anyone have access to Norfolk Southern or BNSF tracking?

Fully loaded! Looks fantastic in white / black combination I think - shows the lines really nicely. You will love it - I've fallen for mine!

Looks great - love the interior/exterior colors. Just a fantastic vehicle to drive everyday. I’m not sure what it says about me, but I feel better about my day after I’ve driving it...and generally the opposite when I don’t.

Totally agree - been driving the kids to school this week in lockdown over here - makes my day a whole lot better! The little things...
