Red/Green Seatbelt Icons

What do these icons represent?

I notice up to 4 of them (one usually larger than the rest, presumably representing the driver) every time I start the vehicle. They usually start out red, then gradually turn green as if to represent seat belts being fastened by the passengers, which would make sense. However, sometimes the number of icons does not match the number of passengers, and even when all seat belts are fastened, not all of the icons turn green. For instance, when this picture was taken, the driver + 2 passengers were in the vehicle, all of whom had fastened seat belts.

I'm not sure if they're meant to indicate something else?

At least on the front seats, there are occupancy sensors so that it can adjust the firing rate of the air bags, so it knows if one is occupied. I do not know if the rear seats have that, but there is a switch that indicates a belt is fastened for each location. Have you looked in the manual? I know, manuals are for geeks, but...probably take less time than typing this.

The green is in regards to the rear seats.

Im not sure I understand this... my Front Passenger icon is always RED. I mean ALWAYS! If the passenger buckles the icon remains red. Unbuckles and also red. With passenger in front or without, always red.

Is this normal? I never see front passenger green... only OFF when driving away...

For the rear passengers however they go from red (unbuckled), to green (buckled), and then Off when the car is driving.

No...the warning should go off when the seat is occupied and it detects that the seat belt has been fashioned. It's probably just a loose plug. I do not know what the weight required to trigger it, but if you have say a heavy briefcase that you put on the passenger seat, you'll get the warning, too.
