X5 40i - CG Precision DS-1 downpipe installed

Hey all

Have some great news to share - B58 downpipes are compatible with our cars!

I installed the CG DS-1 recently and it's fantastic. About 20-30% increase in volume.

Lol really? As far as I could tell, no one could actually confirm that they had actually installed one!

Where can I buy the Downpipes and how difficult is the install?

Also, where did you buy the lowering springs and how is the ride quality? I have 20" wheels so really need the car dropped!

I have H&R spring and KW V3 in stock.
Downpipe, I would go with Evolution Racewerks or RushPlux.

Thanks for confirming the dp info! Like mentioned, not much info for this platform.

Also, are you running a time or any O2 spacers?

For the downpipe, I chose the CG Precision DS-1 because it seemed the best for no CEL. A lot of others will trigger a CEL. I didn't want to mess with O2 sensors. The other one you could look at is the Active Autowerke downpipe - they also guarantee no CEL.

I got my eibach springs here : https://www.tunershop.com/shop/eibac...5-pro-kit.html

So far they ride great. Comfort very similar to OEM and a nice 2cm drop.

How low can you go with the springs that you have and do either of the downpipes you mentioned guarantee a no CEL?

Rushplux guarantee no CEL.
I've tested it on my G30 540 a year ago.

H&R spring advertised at 1.4" drop for 40i.
I think KW V3 is about 1.6".

I am confused if it makes sense to wait out for a true performance exhaust for the 40i or just bite the bullet and get downpipes

Can you pm me the price for the springs please? Shipped to 95133. Seems like the drop is the same as the eibach which are at 40mm/1.5"

Exhausts will connect to the downpipe - they are separate pieces.

Exhausts will usually do nothing for performance, mainly just sound.

Yup and I care more about the sound but maybe a combination of a downpipe with a Perf exhaust down the line may be a great idea too!

Having said that, what gains are you seeing and did you notice the car getting louder? Any drone in the cabin? Do you think a stage one or similar engine enhancement chip is also needed along with the downpipe to get a true feel of the increase in the power when the turbo kicks in?

Yes the car is definitely louder, by about 20-30% I would say. There no drone as it retains all the characteristics of the stock exhaust but it does wake it all up.

There's definitely an improvement in the mid and top end power with the downpipe, but yes a tune is needed if you're seeking a dramatic increase in power.

With a downpipe, you can usually skip stage 1 and go for a stage 2 tune.

How long was install on this car? I believe i read somewhere it's about an hour or so. From where did you get it? Xph? Looks like they may be back ordered now. Would love a little more grunt from the b58. Test drove a 2021 Supra the other day that had a downpipe, and it sounded so nice.

Yeah I think an hour or so would be about right. My mechanic said it was very straightforward.

And yep got it from xph.
