Anyone get the new iPhones and having difficulty connecting to car play. This morning I was finally able to get to the car play screen but no music was playing. I've paired and unpaired my phone, unpair my old phone. Can't seem to get it work.

PS if anyone is wondering the Max does fit in the wireless charger (at least in the X5M. I know the 40/50 have a different wireless charger.

I have the 12 pro max and had no issues connecting or using Apple Car Play. It also fits and charges just fine in the wireless charger, even with a case on it.

My Pro Max works fine with CarPlay. No issue and no difference from my previous phone.

Have you updated your Pro Max to iOS 14.2?
And what iDrive version are your using?

I am using iOS 14.2 with iDrive 07/2020.54

Are you able to use IDrive to send texts via voice? Carplay works but does not show any of the messages on my phone. I do not want to toggle between the systems supposed to be handsfree.

Old Android had no issues.....talk to text with Idrive...

I got it to work. Just deleted the phone from car memory. Switched the car off for a while, rebooted the iphone and tried again. This time Carplay showed up and works.

Ive tried the same thing with my 12ProMax, and mine isnt working either. this happened after the latest iDrive update last week. Wifes XR isnt working on CarPlay either. Will keep trying to reboot things and give an update

Ok so I did the resetting of my phone, repairing and trying it but I was only getting my sound to work thru CarPlay not the actual Apple screen was showing up no matter what I tried. Finally held the power button on the Idrive for 30 seconds, it rebooted and then viola it worked. Sheesh. Maybe from now on after a remote software upgrade, might need to reboot the iDrive every time.

I still am having trouble. I get my messages/phone calls/music but google maps won't download the map after a while it just shows the road...today it just showed the graph. like graphing paper from 7 grade math class before everthing went to iPads. Also my phone won't download/send any data things. So no photo messages new emails etc. I sent a snap chat and then started the car and wouldn't send.
hoping over the holiday break I'll do more driving and bring it in for my 1200 mile break in service and sit down with a "genius".

off topic when I go into my car myBMW/idrive keeps asking me for my user/password...

Thank you so much for this post, have been thinking about getting both the 12 Pro Max and a G05, was wondering about these exact 2 issues!
