Week 49 build for me (timeline shows "Scheduled for Production"). No issues regarding battery recall/issue - Genius said it was restricted to a limited date range.

I'm not familiar with the VIN decoder or what an F2 date is. If you can supply more details, I'll be happy to look it up.

Ordered my 2021 X5 45e in early Sept. and was delivered to the CA dealership in mid Oct. So there was no delay. Sales person says that special orders take up to 6 weeks. Also checked to see if there was any battery recall and there weren't any. Great car! Enjoy!

I tried visiting bimmer.vin and the same issue "Runtime Error"

I think the best option is calling BMW Genius as they were spot on. I called them mid October and they told me week 45 (Nov 2 to 8), so it was pretty accurate as the current status is "entering assembly line"

Timeline - My production is 3571XXX
8/29/20 - Submitted credit application
8/31/20 - Confirmed with the dealer to put the order in the BMW system
9/6/20 - Dealer (fleet department) put the order and sent me the receipt
9/26/20 (9/23/20 according to bmw genius) - Got production number from dealer
Around 10/1/20 – Scheduled for production
Called BMW genius on 10/10/20 (first call) – No expected date of production (getting design and materials)
Called BMW genius on 10/12/20 (forum members encouraged me to call again- second call) – Week 45 (November 2 to Nov 8)
Around 10/21/20 – Production begins
On 10/30/20, message of Today’s the date, your BMW entered the production queue
On 11/1/20 (I did not check yesterday), it had already gone through 1) exterior body assembly begins, 2) in the paint booth, and sitting on entering assembly line.

I know it did not work in weekend, now is functional. Is not that simple in Europe. Actually, european VIN is not recognised by BMWUSA callcenter, we don t have acces to a Genius. I read that UK customers have some acces, but the rest are at the dealer mercy. I have a mail from BMW AG about the VIN and entering on production, and I decode this with bimmervin (works last week), IMO best decoder so far, because it offers also F1 and F2 data. I will see. Thanks anyway.

Anyone else order recently from the West coast? I ordered on 10/20 and wondering if the CA's estimate of early Dec to WA State is realistic. My timeline:

10/20/2020 - Ordered
10/30/2020 - Scheduled for Production

I ordered in upper midwest 10/24, moved to step 2 10/30 just like yours. I called genius with production number and was told I have a week 49 build and to not expect any updates until the last week of Nov. Now just not so patiently waiting.

From last night 10:30pm EST, to this morning around noon EST, it went from entering the assembly line (went through assembly in progress, quality check, final assembly, and ready for transport ) to awaiting carrier assignment.

As a result, I do not think the BMW my garage website gives you a proper timeline unless they have elves working overnight at the Spartanburg BMW factory site.

I'm in California -- Does this mean it should be about 7 or 10 days before the car arrives at the dealer?

Thanks.

You guys are definitely getting through faster than I am. I talked to BMW today (800-831-1117) and they told me that I am not scheduled for build until week 49 (first week of Dec). From there they said I am another 2-3 weeks for arrival at the dealer.

As a reference point, I ordered 10/20, scheduled for prod 10/30. That puts me at 9-10 weeks total, contrasted with some here who seems to only be about 6-7 weeks from start to finish.

The factory does run 24/7 doesn’t it?

It seems that you are right! I just searched in Google and I came across an article mentioning the day and night shifts. The article was posted recently - Posted Jul 30, 2020 at 12:33 PM.

"Jobs are open for day and night shifts and offer vacation and holiday pay, life insurance, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, a 401-k."

So I just called the 800 number and, for the first time, actually listened to the automated info. Turns out that my ETA is now 11/25. If I'm not mistaken, that puts my build week at 48 instead of 49 as I've been told by the live customer service people. If true, I might actually get it by end of year. Dates:

10/20: Order
10/30: Scheduled for Prod
11/13: Prod begins
11/25?? Production complete?
Dec?? Delivery?

Does Spartanburg factory shut down/slow down manufacturing from Nov26-29 for Thanksgiving? My build week is 49 and started production on 11/13. The automated 800 told me that my estimated completion date is Dec 3rd, which translates into a 3-week timeline from "production begins" to production completes, which is something I rarely see on this forum. I believe most of the folks here have 2 weeks ore less. Any thoughts? Thank you!

I've read on this site that they do shut down during the holidays. I asked a live customer service rep last week and they said that they do. He said that they try to keep some teams running but the challenge is that if one person/team does not work, it holds up the production of other teams, thus making it hard to coordinate and keep the factory line moving. No idea if any of that is true, just relaying what they told me.

You might call back Monday. rockhead and I have new completion dates about 6 days sooner than initial dates, as of this weekend. My initial date was 12/1 but now I'm hearing 11/24. Not sure if it will hold. rockhead mentioned in a separate post they were going to call Monday to speak with a live person and confirm.

My CA told me that SC factory would shut down a week around Thanksgiving and another 2 weeks in Dec when I took the delivery in mid November.
