Over asphalt, it's pretty quiet. It's concrete that was the issue.

Maybe you have something else going on.

Stopped by Rusnak BMW today to have a discussion with the awesome service manager (my appointment is still Thursday). I walked around their new X5 and found the dampener on all vehicles..... EXCEPT when I came to my Exact 22" rims. I found all X5s with My rims (photos below) were missing the dampeners. So I went and looked at a different set of 22" rims... thinking its a wheels size issue... and behold... the other 22"rims (Y style) had the dampeners.

As for ordering the parts...there are none in the USA... and are ordered from Germany.

If you have these rims... you may very well be missing dampeners!
More info to come on Friday!

I have the tires on which is the problem. I'm sharing this because people seem to believe it's these missing dampeners which have no effect on tire noise.

I have these wheels and the dampeners and the tires from Continental are still the source of the noise. It's simply a poor design, only way to solve the issue is to replace the Continentals at some point.

I'm curious as to why I don't have the issue? I have the exact same tire and rim combo as the OP. We even live in the same part of town so I did a test run on the same highway he experienced the issue on. He has the reverb with the tires but I don't. The only thing different between our two test cases is I have the dampers and he doesn't. Well that and I think the OP has air suspension and I have the M Adaptive suspension.

I should be getting my dampeners soon so I'll report back when I've installed them. I'll be able to tell clearly what impact they have on the sound since I've been driving with the drumming sound for 3 months now. Praying they reduce the sound enough to be tolerable.

Yup, exact wheels I have. I bet there was a glitch in the production order for those wheels at some point that got overlooked. No reason these wheels shouldn't have the dampeners installed. Let us know what you find out.

I'm running the P-Zeros. I think your tire noise and my cabin vibration noise are two different issues perhaps. Going to test drive a bunch of set-ups tomorrow when I drop of my X5 for dealer review. An engineer from BWM Corporate is scheduled so come see the car Thursday afternoon. Shout out to Rusnak BMW for being beyond helpful as well as BMW corporate.

1. My exact 22" rims with no dampener
2. A different rim set of 22" rims with dampener
3. A 21" rim with dampener

I expect to learn a lot.

100% agree. So curious... and can't live with the sound another week.

Just checked my 2020 sdrive 40i with 22's and it did not have the insulators. It appears the they are only suppose to go on the xdrive models and the m50i based on the models listed with part. I still want them installed on mine

Must be pretty satisfying to be able to track this down to that missing vibration insulator. I've been very happy with the ride quality on my X5, but of course I had to check as well. (They're installed)

GatorX: I think it's probably meant for ALL X5s. It's just that the website isn't aware of the sDrive. (you can't select an x5 sdrive from that site)

I believe you are correct on that. Are there suppose to be insulators installed on the rear suspension?

There are none on the rear suspension for all X5s - trims, engine and wheel sizes - unless it is optioned with DHP (Dynamic handling package - available only M50i in the USA) where it’s attached on the dynamic rear stabilizer bar.

Just got off the phone with my local service department. They told me the 22's do not need the insulator because the wheels have enough unsprung weight. Sounds like BS to me. I really do not trust this dealership.

I can see why...show them the pix from this thread and I believe I saw someone's post that contained the repair invoice from their dealer showing the part numbers they installed. Also, I would bet if you looked under a few of the cars on their lot, you would find some that had it. Mind revealing who the dealer is? I go to one in Florida sometimes.

It's Germain BMW in Naples, FL. Was told they checked some of the X5's on the lot and none of the models fitted with 22's had the insulators. Going stop by there this afternoon and look for myself.

Ok, thanks. I have taken my car there for warranty work. They did ..ok..but I felt like I was bothering them and it was hard to get their attention long enough to explain the issue. I dealt with their service dept, not sales. Still, I would expect their sales dept to get this sort of info from their service dept.
Could be all the X5's they have with 22's are older models when BMW was not installing the dampeners, who knows but I'd have this topic loaded on your tablet/phone, ready to educate them. I think your next closest dealer is Miami or Sarasota. The part is about $50 each and is only used on the two front wishbones. Look and see if you have the hole for it on your wishbone. Here you can see which models it goes on.. ..

There is definitely a hole where the isolator is suppose to go. Just checked the that dealership's inventory and they are not showing a single X5 or X7 with 22's. Maybe the website is not up to date, but I am pretty sure they never checked any other vehicles. Going to try the dealership in Fort Myers or maybe Braman in Coral Springs where I bought it.

I have mine in production right now, delivery in July, and with 22 inch 742M jetblack wheels. I'm curious it will have the damping blocks. Probably the first thing I will check or maybe the leather wrinkly
