Yes I can see you what you mean. In my picture the area looks like a piece flaked off and was glued back on. Probably not the case but it sure looks that way.
Ah, ja it was a bit hard to tell from your photo.

If you're uploading from the Bimmerpost app - in the app set your upload resolution to retina or higher.

Source photo is a bit out of focus, but can see it slightly better. Looks consistent with the characteristic of the wood trim.

Much better!

I see what you mean how it could possibly looked it like it flaked off and glued on. The wood knot is located on a prominent location and a bend. I have a rough spot similar to yours but on the drivers door trim - though it's on the flat spot. It looks roughed up but it's the nature of the wood and trim design - so many variances.

Guess this is normal then. Appreciate the prompt responses and photos of your trim. Thanks a bunch.

Just placed an order for my AW X5 M Sport and chose Coffee Ext Merino with Anthracite-Brown Poplar. It looks great in all your pictures but I have to say I'm a bit nervous about the quality between cars given the variability of the wood and finish. Seems like the majority of pictures look great, then I see the picture in #48 and it gets me concerned. For those that have it, any regrets so far?

We really like and will get it again every chance we can. Just love the matte finish and figuring in the wood.

It’s the property of burled wood, the knot and swirls make it unique. You pay extra for wood like that in woodworking circles!

I ordered it from the website without really seeing it live, I pared it with Tartufo extended Merino leather and couldn’t be happier with the results! Also note the BMW flashlight in the Lighter socket, nice to have the light available, always charged, and aesthetically pleasing to look at!

I selected it for that reason. It has a natural wood look and therefore there may be “imperfections.” Looking forward to seeing it before long along with my coffee interior.

Dealer damaged my trim and I touched it up, no one can tell because the trim itself is real wood that is exposed. You can touch up any damages and it will blend in like it never happened because the trim has open pores.

I have coffee interior.

wood trims are awful. Just picked up a 20 with piano black. Hot!
Something not related to this trim question.

Which are the mats you have in your car?

Do you also have the trunk mat? Are you satisfied with them?
