X5 m60i impressions/advice from current owners?

Hi all!

I have an 25 x5 m60i on order which I should hopefully have by the end of this month YAY

Was wondering if current owners could share their experiences? How do you like it so far? Any tips and tricks or advice would be appreciated too! Super excited to get this car and experience it finally as I’ve only driven once for a brief 10 min test ride!

Love mine. Exhaust note sucks for a V8 though.

I've had one for almost 2 months. First BMW. Amazing vehicle. Tons of power. It's almost a big tease because the vehicle seems it would prefer life >70 mph!

Only gripe is it has a very sensitive gas pedal from 0 mph (not related to 500+ HP). Lurch's forward. Annoying in parking lots, my neighborhood roads at 25 mph, etc.

We also have air suspension. Super smooth!

I took delivery of mine in mid-February and have about 1,100 miles on it. I originally had a 50e on order and cancelled it because of production delays and because I read about too many problems on this forum. I have zero regrets and think it’s a great vehicle so far. As others have said, it’s intoxicatingly fast. I think the exhaust sounds good and I’m glad it’s not obnoxiously loud. Not sure if you got the B&W sound system, but I love it. Glad I went with the air suspension too. The one thing I don’t like is the wide lower body skirt, which makes getting out a little difficult. It it easy to soil dress slacks in the calf area if there’s any dirt on car. The iDrive system is very intuitive and so far, has worked flawlessly. Same with wireless Apple Carplay. I like the digital key+ and use my apple watch or iphone as my key, exclusively. I don’t use the wireless charging pad because 1) I keep my phone in my pocket and 2) it heats up the phone excessively. I use and enjoy the massaging seats more than I thought I would. The DAPP works great. Enjoy your m60i

(Almost) a perfect suv, no complain so far, smooth quiet and powerful V8 suv with great tech for a gas car, I seriously compared with GLE53 and Cayenne and eventually chose M60i, 0 regret and 99% satisfaction, that 1% is a bummer on the exhaust noise, it goes perfectly with my BW, but I do wish they had a tiny button to control the note like other competitors, there are times I want it to be loud since it’s a 100k+ lux v8

The M60i is my 16th German branded auto since I retired in 2001. I have 8600 trouble free miles on it. It’s the best ever. You’ll love it. Great combo of performance, comfort and llooks. Excellent daily driver and a rocket ship whenever you want it. I live in the south and run 22” wheels with performance rubber. Very comfy road tripper.
You made a good decision. Could be one of the last of the V8s as we know it.

Wow thanks for all the great insights! I did get the B&W sound system and I’m eager to hear it, I have the Harmon kardon in my f80 m3 and it’s nice but I wanted to go big this time! Cheers

Interesting you mention the other cars as I was also looking at the cayenne coupe S but it was just too pricey and could’ve gotten the full X5M for the same amount. I’m a huge exhaust fanatic so i know that’s the one downside to this car for me. might try to do a muffler delete or get some sort of aftermarket exhaust system. But I’ll definitely enjoy the car as it is for a while first thanks & enjoy your m60i!!

I’m coming from a lifted jeep wrangler (slow as hell!) & an f80 m3 competition which is super fun but not practical all the time so I’m excited to have the M60i as my daily now! Truly seems like BMW nailed the sporty yet comfortable mix with this model. I also opted for the 22” wheels. That’s partially why I got it as I’ve always wanted a V8 and figured with all the manufacturing moving towards electric this might be my last shot! Thanks for all the info

You’re going to love it. It’s understated but it’s a savage beast in S+

Seldomly wish the exhaust had more growl but most days I appreciate how quiet and comfortable it is as my daily driver. Iconic Sounds fills the gap even though it’s fake. Ugh

Be sure to fine tune the B&W equalizer and EQ presets (my fav is “stage” and hearing the slight delay 3D sound from the tweeters above my head) and don’t judge until you turn it up. Low volume listening is very subtle but the second you crank it, it’ll blow your mind. Also set the ambient light setting such that the tweeters in the door are the same color and ambient light color in the rest of the interior. If you leave the setting turned on the tweeters are white.

I personally think all the chatter about lack of climate buttons, etc is just a case of “who moved my cheese” and it’s easy to adapt when you commit.

Enjoy taking deliver and many happy miles to you!!

A bit off topic, what roof cross bars are those?

I was thinking the same thing and if any marks are noticeable when you take them off.

Thule Wingbar Edge.

They don’t leave any marks whatsoever. I had these on my 2020 X5 and moved them over to the M60i. The feet which attach to the rails on the vehicles roof with a clamp style mechanism are coated in rubber.

I came from a X3MC and I just love it. Great performance and so comfortable and full of excellent technology. B&W blew me away. I would like a little more exhaust and have a exhaust flap module coming to see if that gives me what I want. It is so comfortable and sucks up the bumps but handles great. I got the M Sport suspension and my wife has a 45e with the air suspension - I can definitely feel the comfort benefits of air in hers but I just love the planted feeling of mine - and it is still plenty comfortable - especially after coming out of the X3M.
I did an up and back from Houston to Winter Park (return down straight through) and this thing owns the highways. Ticks along all day at 90+ and just eats up the miles. DAP works great (but assisted only under 85). Love the car. Feel free to follow up with a any specific questions. I’ve done 5,500 miles since beginning of Feb.

Thanks so much! That shot in the snow is perfection, beautiful spec!

Will definitely be looking more into messing around with the B&W system. Part of the reason I got it (might sound silly) was the lighting! I love that you can change the color in the speakers to match the ambient light.

Thanks for all the insights! Gorgeous color btw I just love how BMW blues look in the sunlight. I would love to hear more about the exhaust flap module once you get it. I was looking around for some valve controllers. Where did you get yours? I might do a muffler delete as well since I really want to enhance the V8 sound. I know stock it’s quite muted.
