Upgrade to LCI
I do not plan on upgrading to the LCI. I'm old-fashioned and like the buttonology better.

No for sure, trading my 2020 30d X5 which only has 18,000kms on the odometer (about 11k miles) will cost me at least $40k USD for almost the same car, I rather wait for the new model.

That aside, I was impressed when I felt the sensafin alternative. Although once I felt the merino leather, it was all over for me |

I have a 2021 so my plan is to buy it after the lease and keep it for a bit (actual time TBD)
I also try not to buy the same car again (even if it’s been updated like the LCI) as I’ve done that in the past and regret it after the initial new car excitement wears off. All that being said I don’t like any of the X5 competitors so that’s going to be a problem when the time comes to find a replacement

No one who owns a couple of years old X5 will say they like the new model more But for ones who reached the time to upgrade, I believe it is a best option.

My lease is coming up next month on a 2019 X5 and I told my self that I didn't want my 3rd X5 in a row as I had previously had a 2015 X5. I love cars and wanted something different. After cross shopping other vehicles in its class, (Range Rover Sport, GLE, Q8), the X5 offers the best balance of sport, comfort, looks and price. It really cant be beat. I placed an order for an 40i which should arrive in June. I don't think they did enough with the LCI but there isn't a better SUV on the market in my opinion.

Had my local dealership reach out yesterday to try to solicit me to "upgrade" to the LCI with a trade-in. I gave them a virtual earful about how I had no intention to trade in my X5, since I disliked the interior redesign (and the "afterthought" driver's display style, in particular), and that even if I did trade-in now, I'd probably buy another brand.
I have no idea how much input BMW corporate takes from their dealership and/or customers, but here's hoping that drop in the bucket has some amount of impact on their future designs.

I look at RRs and Cayennes every now and then, but for the extra tens of thousands for marginally better and, in some cases, worse performance, the X5 is the all-around winner. It truly is in a class of its own. |

all they had to do was just keep the options that were available in 2020 and early 2021 and not screw up the infotainment system by taking away buttons. how hard is that? we'd all be upgrading right now instead of having this discussion.

[QUOTE=Bmwx5z;29985997]I don’t understand the logic, why would you “upgrade” … if everything is the same?
Idrive 7 was perfect in terms of giving you multiple options to control the system whether it be with voice, buttons, touch or gestures. Ideive8 took away buttons for seemingly no real reason except some vague sense of minimalist aesthetics. And they took away options or only put them in on the highest spec engines. We have a 2016 x5 and the 2020 was an interative update. They kept what worked well and made it better. And they added options that weren’t available. I was hoping the LCI would go in that direction. |

Initially, I agree, getting used to using only a screen and voice commands will take adjustment, but over time I'm sure it will be fine. Change is tough, but try being the one left behind? I just ordered a 50e, and my build week is mid-May. It seems there is no shortage of interest, tactile buttons be damned! |

It's funny you posted this. I've been thinking about stopping by the Porsche dealer to take a look at the Cayenne. I'm not sure what the timing would be, if it would be a 2024, or 2025 model. My lease is up next August. I have to believe all the manufacturers are heading down the same road. Just want to check my options before I decide to buy at lease end.
EDIT - WTF is with the screen extending all the over to the passenger side???
