It probably won't be available until March or April.

You could, but they won't upgrade it for free unless there is an issue (lame).

There are a few new changes related to remote start seat and steering wheel heating. Also, they changed/renamed the "Climate Control Rules" menu to "Automated Habits".

Some who have the 11/2020.xx update are reporting that the update removed the steering wheel heating option which was in the Climate Control Rules previously but is now gone in the Automated Habits menu.

I am steering clear of this update due to them breaking/removing more options/features then they are fixing/adding.

Just use ista or esys. And have a decent power supply and accept some risk

But you don’t need a file to upload on the car?
Where I can get this file?

Thanks

Smile 3/2020.69

Hi,

New to these forums. I have a 2021 X5 Xdrive45e which keeps reverting back to 6A charging randomly. I was going to try to update the software since it says I only have 3/2020.69. Also says no update available. Is it true that I need to take it to the dealer? I'm just not yet comfortable with playing around with it too much on my own. Thanks and excuse my ignorance. I'm still learning. First post.

its not too difficult but you need the software (ISTA about 70GB) and hardware to keep the car voltage up during the upgrade (waiting for the regulator to come in the mail.

I've also heard you can do it via esys but ive not figured how that's done yet.

My local dealer pretends that software upgrades do not exist so ive been doing it myself.

If one does the software upgrade on their own, will that not 'blacklist' the car (via VIN) from future OTA software updates?

Not a good idea at all: a couple of critical ECUs cannot be programmed with engine running and nothing described as a "charger" is going to have sufficient current handling capacity. Get a proper stable 70A or better automotive power supply/regulator for software updates.
