Can't make AA work due to WiFi/Mobile connectivity issue

I've recently updated my X5 to 07/2020.80 and still unable to make AA work with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, i.e. AA starts, but no apps has internet access what makes it absolutely useless. I tried to delete and pair the phone for Android Auto. All the settings like "Switch to Mobile data" and "Allow individual apps to switch" are enabled. It's looks like the problem is on the phone/OS side, but maybe somebody knows how to fix it?

Do you have internet hotspot enabled in the vehicle? The WiFi enable switch and the hotspot enable switch are two different settings within mobile devices in iDrive. If you don't have the hotspot activated with your carrier you will connect to the vehicle LAN but not have any connectivity to the outside.

Thank you for the reply! The hotspot internet feature is disabled because I never use it. Anyway, I don't think it's related, i.e. in both cases the phone is connected to the hotspot which doesn't have internet connectivity, so, it supposed to switch to mobile internet automatically, but it doesn't. I think it would be better to have a flag which explicitly prevents from using certain access points for internet. It looks more like an Android issue rather than BMW issue.

Do you have wireless projection enabled in AA developer mode?

Can you post step by step guidance on how to obtain developer version? I have a OnePlus phone and am having trouble seeing anything on the car screen. AA works fine on the phone. Thanks.

I have a Huawei, but it should be the same. On your phone go to AA, up on top open the gear icon, scroll down to the bottom and tap version 10 times until you see developer mode ( sometimes 15 times) you should see developer mode open up.

I don't have a dedicated setting for "wireless projection", but "Wireless Android Auto" is enabled.

The problem was resolved by enabling "Mobile data always active" in "developer options" menu.

It is a setting on your phone not idrive.
