You have to make sure you have the settings configured for "Manual" activation. See below.

I think the OP is talking about the surround and parking camera, not the Drive recorder.

I was referring to the OP of the thread, not you. Make sure you are pressing the surround camera button and not the parking camera button for the drive recorder to activate. I also wouldn't set it to manually but rather Automatically or Manually to ensure you have the automatic recording when an incident occurs. There has been some discussion on whether that setting really matters but no need to take the chance.
