This not correct, it will remember the last suspension setting to the Sport level as long as you don't change your drive mode (or open the tailgate from behind or remote start if you coded your default drive mode to be Adaptive). For example, if you set it to Sport level while in Comfort mode it will stay at Sport level.

Air springs are truly progressive springs. Steel springs can only approximate that feature. The shocks make the vehicle more stable and allow the wheels to stay in contact with the road more reliably that can improve both the ride and handling.
Because air springs are truly progressive, they can ride smoother while still preventing damage on a severe impact while being more stable than one with steel springs. |

It's an SUV and can never by sporty. If you think the X5 is sporty then you probably don't know what it means to be "sporty".
My M2 is balanced so well that I can't say it's rough/hard or comfy. They got it right! And driving wise it's playful. With the X5 it felt heavy and unnecessarily uncomfortable with the Sport suspension. It needs to settle down a bit, IMO. The air is what I went with and it's been great. For me, I already own a M car and my wife only cares about comfort, that was another thing that made it easier for us to get the air. In sport, it lowers and tightens up but it's still very comfortable. In sport+ it has the best feel... turns very well without compromising comfort. If they improve the sport suspension and make it even more dynamic, then I might consider it. In comfort, I want my SUV to be ultra smooth and relaxed, which I only felt in the air. And you can make the air quite sporty in sport+, it's just the right amount and looks bad ass when lowered.

My 2006 E55 AMG had the airmatic suspension - taught me to never purchase a vehicle with one again. Ok if you are leasing but too many issues which can/will pop up down the road. I would blow out one of the seals every other year or so which was around a $2500 per actuator fix at the time.

The whole engineering department of BMW M division must disagree with you. They did not give X5m and x3M air suspension on purpose- so these SUVs can handle as well as the cars |

As mentioned, if leasing and/or under warranty then the fix is covered. If not, then prepare for large maintenance bills on a regular basis or convert to springs for even more $$$ (one time charge though). Last edited by Fennario; 12-27-2020 at 08:25 PM.. |

Chose the air suspension on mine, specifically for the adjustability and I had always planned on adding lowering links. After 14 months, I can def say I'm extremely happy. I'm lowered on factory 22inch wheels and the ride is perfect. Not floaty, not stiff, just a well balanced ride.

On track M2 will eat these heavy SAVs alive. You are telling me that a big SUV will be able to keep up with a smaller nimble M2? You will be defying physics. Bring in the hellcat from straight line drag race.
