don’t do it… unless you’re 101% certain you’ll buy it at lease-end or understand there’s no ROI whatsoever

I did, as well as a Stealth PPF and other similar items.
Only makes sense if you understand the financial aspect and decide you’ll still enjoy it. This is money I fully understand I’ll never get back, and will enjoy for only a few years, however in my situation it worked out that I was fine with that. |

I did ceramic coating on my lease because it is black and I figured it’ll help make cleaning easier on this color.

I've had several leased vehicles over the years. On two prior X5 leases the only $$ I spent was for window tint. Also removed the RFTs right away and replaced them with non-run flat all seasons. Always had a space saver spare. I stored the RFTs and put them back on the car prior to turn in. Current M60i was ordered with non runflat performance tires. No problem. You guessed it......I hate RFTs.

I would do ceremic coat but not ppf. Ceremic coat help to keep car clean easier. And they don’t last forever, and get wear off in a couple of year anyway.

Thanks all.
Yes, I have been leasing BWMs for the last 12+ years. always had light-colored silver and glacier silver. I picked up CB last week. I have never had black color, and I understand it will require more maintenance time. I do like to keep my cars shiny and clean. Used to wash, detail, and polish 1-2 times per month and have used Gyeon, Sonax, and Meguair products. and Neighbors who own Honda/Toyota started looking and commenting while I used to wash/clean BMWs. Well, I was telling in my mind. it's not a HONDA. I can certainly do the DIY ceramic coating, but I don't have time. I'm at a time in my life/career where my time is more worth, and it makes sense to pay someone else to do it. However, when it comes to cars, I don't trust others..lol. Currently looking into spray-on ceramic coating vs DIY traditional, which takes more hours to do. saw this on r/AutoDetailing—Meguiar new spray-based ceramic coating. So which one I should go for? https://www.meguiarsdirect.com/megui...ting-8-oz.html vs https://carpro.global/catalog/hydro2/ This one looks to me like Gyeon wet coat. It claim protection for upto 6 months. vs https://carpro.global/catalog/cq-uk-3-0/ Last edited by leasehackr; 01-28-2024 at 05:12 PM.. |

Ceramic will make keeping it clean a heck of a lot easier. Will even speed up wash time as you’ll be able to dry it a lot quicker with the water just beading right off. I’d say it’s definitely worthwhile even on a lease.
I would not suggest any PPF though, unless you think this might be the one you actually buy outright at the end of the lease.

If ease of maintenance - cleaning is the goal, do it.
It's not some invisible forcefield....as many seem to think it is. It will chip like paint. If you wash or dry it improper even on its 1st wash, you can put marring or swirls. It's not adding -hardness- ontop of the factory clear... |

Definitely do not ceramic or PPF your leased vehicle. It's a total waste of money.
Get yourself one of those ceramic sprays from Maguiars and apply that during routine cleanings.

Update:
Since the new car honeymoon will be over by next year, it only lasts the first year..lol. I am listening to both sides of the advice..I will be going with a hybrid approach. Maguiar new spray ceramic or Carpros. Both will give up to 6 months of protection. In between I usually wash car twice a month at home. Use a Gyeon wet coat and Meguair polish, etc. https://carpro.global/catalog/hydro2/ |
