PPF diy?

Has anyone put on ppf on themselves ? Is it rather straight forward? I just want to do the front bumper using the pre cut kits, I am imagining it will be similar to applying a screen protector on a phone ? lol

Not even close. You need to apply just enough heat and just enough stretch in the right places. If you can afford an X5M I’m hoping this really isn’t a budget buster for you.

Yea, cost is not the issue. More of a issue with time,I was hoping it was a job I can knock off myself at night and not have to be without a car for a day, since it seems like even just doing only the bumper, I am getting quoted 1-2 day job. I guess if it takes a professional 1-2 days , is probably not a job I can diy.

Yup, it took 3 days for mine, but i combined it with ceramic coating which included paint correction too. I do not have the skills for ppf on my own...

I get that. I have my tint guy come to my house so I don’t have to wait or leave my car somewhere.

My shop said the X5M front bumper is extremely difficult to install. After multiple attempts they threw the towel and only covered some of it...

Really ? Especially on the lci, most of it looks to be just the black plastic and everything looks pretty flat and not curvy. I don’t know, it really looks like a 1-2 hour job to me for just the bottom bumper…lol… but I am obviously missing something

I have a guy I’ve used for years who is mobile that comes to my house to do it. On my pre-LCI it took him just about 4 hours to do front bumper, half hood and side mirrors.

That sounds more reasonable at 4 hours… will have to search around to see if there is anyone in nyc that does similar mobile jobs

Here's one thing I learned by going to a high quality install shop...some use precut templates but, I found one that actually does their own custom cuts. The difference? Seamless install...mostly applicable on the front bumper.
