I'm thinking of offering up for sale my genuine BMW black 22" 742M winter complete setup w/Pirelli Winters (275/35/22; 315/30/22), sensors, caps if anyone near southeast PA would be interested. These are coming off in the next week or two, and saw about an inch of snow (if that) and approx 1500 miles all season, used only this season. No rash, bends, or issues. Keep in mind the setup is going to be expensive...tires alone were close to $2k. I prefer BMW's 748M setup if I can ever get my hands on them bc they've been backordered since the times of the Old Testament!

I headed over to my tire and rim guys and asked for their reco and they suggested 20" square or staggered if I wanted to go down that way.

I had the 20" staggered setup on the F15 and I liked the look. My concern is I have the 22" 742M for the Summer and obviously love that look very much.

The option I'm considering is the 20" staggered setup

Rims - 20x9 front and 20x10.5 rear (Replika R233 in gloss black)

Tires - 275/45/20 & 305/40/20 (Michelin Pilot Alpine 5 SUV)

One photo is the Gunmetal but he indicated he could get the gloss black. The R233 seem similar looking to the 742M.

What are you guys looking to do?
Hi , looking for a black 20" replica staggered wheels for my 2020 X5 M50i , I only found replica R233 9.5 and only in gunmetal , do they have another name ?
I'll PM you my guys that did up the tire setup.

Question regarding tire pressure. What should the tire pressure be set for 275/45R20 and 305/40R20?
Hello:

Please let me know where you got these wheel stickers from as I am strongly considering buying the 22" black wheels on ebay as I have gotten a really good price and I think this is a nice looking wheel that I can run as my spring summer set. I have the 21" factory wheels as my winter wheels with Vredestein tires square set-up.

Thanks for the help.

Vredestein Tires

21" M Y-spoke bi-color wheels, style 741M with performance run-flat tires
Front: 21x9.5, 275/40 R21
Rear: 21x10.0, 315/35 R21

I researched Tire Rack and found the Vredestein Quatrac Pro - Grand Touring All-Season size 275/40R21 which carries the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF). It is a non-run flat.

Specs from Tire Rack site:
UTQG 400 A A
MAX LOAD 2,149 lbs
Max. Inflation Pressure 51psi
Tread Depth.10/32"
Tire Weight 34 lbs
Rim Width Range 9-11"
Meas. Rim Width 9.5"
Tread Width 9.7"
Overall Diam 29.7"

Also on the Tire Rack site: Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol (3PMSF) provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.

The rim width for this tire shows 9"-11" so I am considering running 275/40 R21 all the way around with the factory 21" 741M rims.

It appears to be a good tire from the reviews but I am not an expert and would appreciate any feedback.
DADZER:

I know its been many months since your originally asked about the Vredestein and likely have chosen a solution a long time ago but anyways, I have the same Vredestein tires and LOVE them. I am running them for the winter (which has turned out to be nothing this year in New England) with a square set-up on my 21" factory wheels. I got them from Tire Rack at a great price and am very happy with them. No issues whatsoever. Handle well, good traction and quiet.
Now, I wish they had the 275 and 315 in 22" size so I could get them for my upcoming 22" wheels for spring / summer.

I have the DM-V2's on my Jeep. Good value and they do a great job. Lucky you were able to find a style you liked as the selection is getting pretty slim. Looks good.

F15 50i winter set up

I have a 2015 50i where i put on 18 inch square wheels in the winter running it with Blizzaks. They do affect the handling a bit but I've not found a better winter set up. Not really needed unless you get stuck in some deep stuff like I do. They look like crap but you should see me pulling out of a 3 foot bank of snow with just a touch of wheel spin. The Tahoe next to me had to be dug out. Then a 120 mile run in 4 inch powered on the highway in the dark, piece of cake.

I am going in to order a 2021 M50 and debating on the winter wheel. I get 25k out of my blizzaks. Though think I am can only go with 20's on this one but would love to run 19's if possible. I was thinking of just using my f15 19's on my new G05 M50. So far a dealer has no clue (like most BMW dealers in the North East, clueless), but will test drive and test it out home.

748M

Just in case anybody wanted to see what the 748M 20" square set up looked like in real life, before any detailing...let alone a wash. Got it for $4k after tax here in the US.

Just swapped this past weekend from 741M 21s staggered.

went through the same journey made the same decision.

I did a lot of research for a winter tire/wheel package for my 2014 X5 5.0 which I bought with really crappy Antares all-seasons a couple years ago.

This summer, I had a flat, and took advantage of my last crack at the tire/wheel package before it expired to get 4 new Pirelli P-Zero run-flats at the dealership for a bargain $1100 installed. Staggered 275/40 & 315/35 R20s. They drive really nice.

This did come with an additional price - knowing that I needed a dedicated winter package.

1. I went first to the dealer and asked for a winter package recommendation. He recommended 19" straight, and confirmed they'd fit because I did not have the M-Sport brake package, but quoted me over $3300 for the wheel/tire package, the cheeky bastard.

2. I spent two weeks building packages on TireRack, surfing the web, and asking people. Decided that 19" was better than 20" because winter, potholes, and price.

3. The next decision was staggered v flat, and I went with the straight 19" because price, availability, and rotation. It didn't make sense to overspend on a custom setup for 3 months out of the year. Having to support 2 sizes for winter in case of flats and tread-wear seemed sub-optimal. And all the Massholes around me swore by smaller tires for winter. "You don't want to push snow around, you want to drive through it".

4. I ended up settling on the Pirelli Scorpion Winter Run-Flats, 255/50R-19 from TireRack at $250 each, with (admittedly) not the prettiest of $220 rims, but the total price tag of $2000 means I can invest somewhere other than a 3-month snowy slushy season. They're available if I need replacements, they're run-flats so they'll get me home in a pinch, and I can rotate them year-on-year.

Just my two cents. Excited to be on this forum.

Now does anyone have a recommendation on a car jack

For myself, I am going for 20"x9.5"' square setup for the winter — aftermarket black rims with spacers to basically get stock positions. Tires will be Blizzak DM-V2 275/45R20.
What spacers did you use? I have a x7 m50 and need a 5 mm spacer to be good with square set up. Thanks

If you mean which brand, then that's Bloxsport for me.

If you mean which sizing, then that depends on both the car hub specs (the same) and your specific rims (probably not the same). In my case, the rims being discussed here are OZ Racing Canyon ST 9.5x20" ET52 5x112 and the spacers are front 15mm and rear 22.5mm with appropriately sized custom lug bolts (different length front vs rear). This combination achieves exactly stock positions.

I saw a couple of 22" replicas of the 742M on eBay in bicolour and gray. My concern with the bicolour is the finish against the winter salt and I really wanted gloss black but maybe gray is the way to go if I reconsider the 22". My tire shop has a real challenge with 22" tire options.

So far in the 742M replica options I found:

22" bicolour
22" gray
20" gloss black
20" gunmetal

Not sure if anyone found a 21" 742M replica?

Now I'm questioning the look of the 20" staggered. Here are the pics of the F15 20" staggered.

looks great!

Hey guys,

I'm researching winter options for my MY22 X5 xDrive 40i w/ M Brakes. Since I live in NYC, the winters can be harsh. So I'm thinking of going with the 20" square 740M setup shown here: https://www.shopbmwusa.com/PRODUCT/8...0M,-ORBIT-GREY

The stock summer wheels are the 21" 741M w/ performance runflats. Dropping to 20" for the winter is fine but my question is if I order it from BMW direct, does it come with everything including the pressure sensors? Are the wheels/tires balanced? I assume these will be easy to swap out for the winter on my own? This will be my first X5 and any advice would be appreciated.
