Bluetooth OBD Link and BimmerLink Installed

Just set these up today. It’s cool that I can set the exhaust flaps to open. Lots of pops and crackles now! Much simpler than buying and after market exhaust. I can turn it on or off depending on if the family is in the car or its just me.

Something to note, based on an app store review it seems temporary. I.e., you do it each time the car wakes up.

It stayed open for me the next time I drove it. I’ll have to see if changing modes from comfort to sport has any effect.

Maybe they changed something, but there was one very unhappy person who left a one-star review I believe.. saying it's completely useless they have to do this every time.

So if you leave module connected it will always stay open when you drive the car again but not if you unplug it.

Ah ok. Do you like it? I thought about it but there’s another thread on here about it droning at speeds.

I haven’t gone on the highway yet but no droning around town. I would say it’s only a modest increase in volume, maybe half the increase of what you might expect from a cat back system. Also at idle it’s hard to tell but when you rev it up then you notice it much more. That’s probably why some in the other chat rooms have mentioned welding in an X-pipe without the baffling further up in the system.

Ultra which G05 do you have? I have the 50i and I didn't realize any of the models could create crackles and pops. I've never been able to get that unless I'm not trying hard enough. And is Bimmerlink good for anything else noteworthy? I have Bimmercode but not sure paying for the full version of link is worth it for just exhaust flap.

I have the M50i and yes, if you put it in sport plus then rev it up you will hear the snap crackle pop.

There are some interesting features in BimmerLink but honestly I only cared about the exhaust flap. You can turn off the amplified exhaust through the speakers and see a bunch of real-time sensor data like exhaust temp, oil, trans, temp, boost pressures etc.

I thought about the Bimmercode app but the only thing I can think would be useful is turn on the car from the key fob, if it does that.

Do you have remote start option on the car bc if you do all you have to do is press the BMW button on the key fob 3 times and that's how you start it. Or you can use your connected app.

I have whatever the standard M50i keep fob is, and when I press the lock button 3 times it doesn’t start the car. But I do have the app which I can do it from there but that’s not as convenient.

I think you have to press 3 times and hold on the last time. If you can remote start from the app, you can do it from the FOB. The FOB has pretty decent range too - the only thing I don't like is there's no confirmation it actually happened if you're not within viewing distance of the car.

Holding after the 3rd time is actually not required (although I thought it worked when I tried it long time back). May also want to check the following from the manual.

Thant worked! Didn’t realize you had to go into the climate menu to authorize it.

I had the same issue, one of the reasons I picked what I did was for remote start, and I was confused when it didn’t work. Hidden, it is!

Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ and BlueDriver LSB2 Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan

Hello BMW Community,

I wanted to ask if the following devices really work with bimmercode app to code my BMW X5 G05 2020, some people say it does, but the bimmercode website does not have them listed for this specific model:

- BlueDriver LSB2 Bluetooth Pro OBDII Scan Tool for iPhone & Android
- Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+ Bluetooth 4.0 OBD2 Scanner for iOS & Android

Thanks a lot
