BMW told me to request a card for my pre-December production X5 from the dealer and they will supply it.

I had my car in for software updates yesterday and they checked but told me they can't order cards individually yet. They told me to keep checking back.

I received one when I picked up car on Saturday but didn't get a chance to test there. I'll let you know when I test it to see if dealer set it up.

I stopped by to check my new X5 out yesterday. It did not come with the key card. I asked my CA and he acknowledged that other X5s that were arriving did come with the key card but they were having trouble with them, getting them to work.

I pressed and asked if I could get one for my X5 and the CA was more or less avoiding making any commitment about them and would not commit to getting me one or provide direction on how to get one in the future.

I suspect week 49s forward come with keycards. Mine was a week 48 but came across the line a few weeks after the scheduled build week - but I'm guessing these type of in-line enhancements are based on build number order and assigned build week - vs - actual completion date.

My key card was not active. Had to go to car- settings- doors/access- BMW digital key - add new key. Put key card in charge tray to activate. Now it works to start car,locks and unlocks car.

I picked up my X5 yesterday. Build 50. It came with a keycard. I've activated but it doesn't seem to work at all. It won't open the doors or start the car. Very annoying.

Spoke to my local dealer parts dept. and they acknowledged that it is available on the computer with approximately 32,000 cards sitting inGermany but none available to individually order. He said he would email whoever he needs to see when I could get one, I tried to imply that it should be included with car. Also found out that unless you have Android you can not use the digital key on BMW Connected App.

That worked! Thanks! Can't believe how finicky it is about location and placement but it worked.

My Week 49 came with one and it works, it was on the charging tray when I picked it up.

Card was on the charging tray in a plastic sleeve.
Once activated via settings it works perfectly.

Has anyone had to have their car reprogrammed for the key to work? There isn't a key icon in the digital key interface so I'm assuming they just need to pair it and prep it for activation somehow. Just curious if anyone has had to deal with this yet and what gets done to fix it.

I thought these cards were VIN specific? I didn't think you could take one lying around in a drawer somewhere and program it to any X5.

my dealer provided me with a card, i had it activated in my car but no door works nor i can start the car with it. I think i might need to go back to the dealer. Didnt have a chance yet.

Picked up Tuesday, mine was in a plastic case, taped into the NFC charging pad (I didn't notice at first, and the gap it created between the NFC charger and my phone caused my Pixel 3 to get quite warm, which is what made me look closer).
