Full merino leather

Any idea when this will be available for the G05? The X7 has it and it looks gorgeous.

Not having seat backs, lower part of door and dash in leather, but instead in plastic makes the interior look a bit cheap IMHO

No information on this other than the 1 listed via the ordering guide for April. I'm not 100% sure it's full Merino though.

Full merino option for X5? Not likely.
Next X5M? More likely.

If concerned with plastic bits, splurge on the X7.

What's the difference between full merino and extended? Add you can add the dashboard as an option, correct?

Full merino on the X7 is initially available only in ivory/ blue and includes: leather covered upper and lower dashboard, front and rear window sill/lower door panels, window sills for 3 rows, 3rd row armrests and entry, and alcantara headliner.

Can't confirm if the back panel of mutli-contour seats for driver/passenger and 2nd row captain chairs are covered in leather.

Adding $1200 leather dash option to the X7, the lower dashboard is covered in leather and front/rear window sills.

Extended merino on X5 is upgrading to merino leather, unique stitching for seats and a portion of the center tunnel. See enclosed X7 example.

When you add $1200 leather dash option to the X5, the upper dashboard and front/rear window sills are covered in leather.

The most you can currently get on an X5 is: upper dash, door tops, seats, arm rests, center console tunnel (extra inch or two below what's normally covered) and door cards for the upperhalf

If you order Merino and add the leather dash option you get alot of leather but the very lower part of the doors and footwells are in softtouch. I am not sure that even the optional extra full leather option will cover the back of the drivers seat. I have a option like this in my Signature Leather Summit. It was a $5k upgrade and EVERTHING is covered in fine Nappa all the way down to the lower footwells. The only issue is now your feet tend to rub on the lower leather panels and it can be a issue. I am not sure I would have wanted it in the new X5. Sometime leather in lower areas are a liability and generally a pia to worry about getting in and out. Its hard enough not to step on the lighted sills.

I agree, I prefer to not have leather lower door panels covered in leather - mine get scuffed up a bit getting in and out.

I am ok taking care and ensuring that the leather on the lower panels doesn't get scuffed.

The X7 is too big for me.

How soft is the material on the lower panels? The stock M4 ones were pretty hard to the touch.

How do you like the GC w/signature leather? Was seriously contemplating. Decided I really wanted a third row.

Coming from lots of German cars, I can tell you the Summit with the Signature leather is the finest interior you can get on any domestic vehicle. Leather quality is outstanding and you can tell Jeep was making a statement by going this upscale. With every option it stickered at $65k. I am trading it on my inbound X5 50i M-Sport which is in another league, of course. I honestly would recommend the GC Summit as it’s very well equipped and ride is plush. It’s top heavy and not a performance suv but it does tick all the luxury boxes. Jeep does what Jeep does very well in its price point. It will be interesting with the upcoming Grand Wagoneer how much it will bite into the Escalade and Navigator demographic. 2020 is the end of the current GC so FCA could totally destroy the next evolution.

Boy, I thought with the extended Merino leather, it included those areas.
Then, I might as well stick with my lowly G01 M40i.
I guarantee when the G05 X5M comes out, it will have all the panels covered in (optional) Merino leather, just like it was on the F15 X5M.

Not all leather is created equal.
Merino is a higher quality leather so you are actually paying for a better product. It’s a non top coat pure dyed leather. Merino is about the highest quality leather. I assume the leather dash option is Nappa leather.

The leather quality is better and you get more coverage. I'll circle the leather areas included over the G01 X3 with the added leather dash. Having leather in these places really makes it feel more luxorious, if you go check one out it'll make sense.

That’s pretty much where you can see and touch.

Yep, while the lower areas and seat backs would be great I don't think they matter a huge amount. No one will be riding in the back of my X5 unless the wife wants to sleep on a road trip (she likes the backseat because of the 5% tint while getting some rest).
