PSA: How to get an extra $1000 off if you are not a BMWCCA member yet

For those of you that don't know, the BMW Car Club of America will give you $1000 for buying an X5 - not tied to the dealer or dependent on any other part of the deal. Buy and X5, send it get a check for $1000.

It used to be that you had to be a member for a year in good standing to get this, but they recently changed this.

As of now, you can sign up for a 3 year membership ($134) here https://www.bmwcca.org/rebate-update before you buy a new X5 (or up to 15 days after you purchase it) and then fill out the rebate form here https://www.bmwcca.org/vehicle_rebate and you will receive a check for $1000.

So you ultimately save an additional $866 and join the club, get a mug I think they are giving out for 3 year members and you get a great magazine each month and access to great club events and specials.

I joined the club back in the 1st week of Sept for the $500 rebate on my M40i, and so far, no mug and no rebate check. But at least I have received 2 issues of Roundel.

I actually re-upped in September or October, got the mug pretty quick (think it was a limited time offer), rebate check does take a few months to get processed, but I have been a member for 15 years and have received a total of 5k in rebates over the years (they also used to be 1500 on the X5 years ago) and 1000 on the series x3, but totally worth for any amount.

Does the 15 day deadline start on the day you leave the deposit? Or the day you purchase/drive off the lot?

I guess I'm trying to figure out what the "purchase date" is as interpreted by BMWCCA vs. the "delivery date".

BMWCCA seem to imply that, to qualify, you need to:

- have purchased a 3 year BMWCCA member "within" 15 days of the purchase/lease date - or any day prior to. (But the application itself specifies the BMWCCA membership must be purchased "on or before" the purchase date)
- Have the vehicle in your possession when applying.
- Have the odometer reading on the sales contract/document/bill of sale (they seem to use the three interchangeably)
- Have a member number at the time of application
- Apply within 60 days of delivery date (postmarked).

So my interpretation is that - to qualify you would:

1) Become a 3-year member prior to or on "purchase date"
2) Get your BMWCCA member number (application requires)
3) "Purchase vehicle"
4) Take delivery
5) Within 60 days of delivery, complete the "Check Request" application and include the sales contract/document/bill of sale or lease document with odometer reading. Or include separate odometer statement if odometer reading is not included on the sales contract/document/bill of sale or lease document.
6) Application must be postmarked within 60 days of delivery if mailed or can be scanned/emailed (note that the application specifies that it must be completed, post marked and mailed but then also specifies separately that it can be scanned/emailed at the bottom).

A lot of inconsistent language/direction on the website but I think that untangles it....

It says purchase, might want to call them but would assume it is the day you officially take possession, deposit would not count as you can just get that back and you have not bought it yet.

Thank you so much for the posting....

Just signed up for the 3-year membership, as I expect to get my X5 before the end of the year, and getting 1K back will be awesome!

Kudos!

Well I filled everything out and emailed it to them and when I go to check my status on my rebate this is the info I get

"Rebate is not available (due to incomplete AA/SSO project)."

If it sounds too good to be true...... What a waste of 134$

Call them and find out what's up. My guess is that the computer-generated status has less to do with reality and more to do with an administrative miss. Phone: 864-250-0022 x234

Report back here. If you used a credit card, just challenge the charge via your card company and get reimbursed. You have protection against unscrupulous behavior - but, find out if it is actually that first.... before you go calling foul ;-)

I also got the same message. I called the CCA and they said that BMWNA is still processing the paperwork.

Update: I called today and they said the check was cut on 11/14 and will be mailed in 2 weeks. So they are just real slow.

Be a bit patient - it takes 6-8 weeks to get it back, they will send, it never had a problem yet getting 5 rebates so far in the past decade. The money actually comes from BMW USA via the car club, so they have to verify a bunch of info with BMW to get the money. Call them if you continue to see weird info.

Tap "manage my account" on the left top of homepage, then tap " vehicle rebate application", you can find your status there.

I'm a long time BMW CCA member and I've never had any issue getting the rebates. This is definitely a legitimate program. I'd recommend calling them if there is any issue and I'm sure they'll be able to help get it resolved.

Just signed up for a three year membership today and my member join date is showing as 1/1/19? Anyone else have this happen? We just purchased the car so my join date wouldn't be within the 15 day window with that error. I don't want to lose the rebate on a technicality.

My membership date shows the day I made payment (11/28).
