Exactly. No lap time = no care.

These over-the-top, marketing fluff ads BMW has been releasing are just embarrassing. If they help sell more cars, then good for BMW, but I don't see how this could even be possible. Without a lap time, a simple commercial with some sideways action and fun in a random, unnamed desert environment would more than suffice. I say spare us the huge production efforts and use the money saved for actual R&D!

That's what I got out of this message. BMW is clearly looking out for the underprivileged. They built a track in the desert so this guy can experience "good" handling. If that's not charity, I'm not sure what it is.

Btw, I love how this thread was completely sidetracked by that random comment that had no relevance to this thread.

If he's angry about a dirt track, imagine how he'll feel about BMW's history with labour during the war.

BMW make a campaign with providing for the many people in need. Look out there and see how many kids and not only are suffering.
You should be ashamed of these campaigns. People that buy the X5 new are lucky and living in luxury and most are smart to buy the car widouth being determined by such a wasteful add.
Make a hospital, a human care facility, anything to help the people in need, even the planet, put your logo on it than you have my respect.
Showing only profit does not make you great.
Sorry for the negativity.... I just believe is not the time to be wasteful or ignorant.
Could not agree more!

I can't help but laugh at the irony of someone taking offense to this ad as wasteful spending when we're on a forum talking about cars that we've spent 60-100 grand on.

Enjoy the ad for what it is, but save the shame for yourself if it offends you.

Kinda fun to see the marketing. Looks like quality work. Bmw obviously hires media and advertising agencies to boost sales in a very competitive market. Without sales thousands of workers are affected. All auto makers spend a bundle marketing and the cheapest part is content. I like it when automakers produce different ideas and locations.
The only bad thing is every shot is analyzed and likely our cars will never look as aggressive and good as the pictures and video.

The more I think about it, maybe you have forgotten. BMW does make/build things for people in need.

They built me an X5... because I NEED to trailer my M5 or M2 sometimes.
Well clearly your not on first.

I love your tenacity.

Couldn't agree more. No one buying an X5 should be criticizing someone else's extravagance in the face of global poverty.
