Audi showed their hand with the Q8, MB showed their hand with the GLE (reviews are out) and BMW showed where they are going. Everything elsemlike RR is last generation. BMW has shown their cards to still be the drivers performance SUV of the new rigs. You have future proofed yourself 5-6 years at least buy buying now. I think this is the most impressive looking X5 and SUV in general from the modern rigs. When the Cayenne, Q8, etc.all have soft round shapes, the X5 is aggressive and purposeful looking. It’s non-apologetic and has a clear identity from any angle. |

I was really looking forward to the new technology package from Audi (in the A6, A7, and now Q8) and after using it during all three test drives, I have to say, I wasn't impressed. In fact, I was disappointed. |

I waited to this year to update knowing all the new SUV’s were to be released. I even throught about going back to a car with the new A7 or A8. I can’t figure out where Audi is going with their SUV market? Soft and fluffy around the edges and continuing the move away from a drivers car. It’s a fluffy SUV you buy the wife as it’s nonthreating looks and average performance doesn’t call out to the driver enthusiast at all. The duo touch screens in the Velar and now Audi don’t work well when driving. Haptic feedback is meaningless when I still have to look down and make sure my finger is properly placed on the all smooth screens. It’s madding and a horrible implemtation of technology interface.

Nothing beats a nice performance sedan and a nice X5 as a combo. It will just be so confusing to go out to the garage each day and go through the anxiety of having to choose. Rough life for sure.

The 40i isn't slow but it's also not very fast as expected. the B58 is still a great engine

I was shocked when I read the new Car and Driver review today confirming 4.9sec 0-60 for the 40i. I felt like mine was a little quicker than the BMW claim, but I'm still only at ~550 miles and haven't tried for myself.

BMW and Porsche notoriously are conservative with their performance numbers. Its been that way forever. Domestic brands are the exact opposite.
