Who ordered from Bimmerplug while having good results and zero condensation? I didn’t see any success stories with Bimmerplug? Also can we confirm that Bimmerplug is not just a rebranded akd?

Mine from AKD went to snowboarding, several days of heavy rain and car washes without condensation.

You got lucky however, they are sending me the right side free of charge, but the left side is condensating too. I told him to send me both and they refused.

Here are some pics. When the weather gets better, I will remove them dry them up and use silicone. I do go through car washes so that can be the problem.

damn that sucks! Its obvious both sides have condensation... and akd won't send you replacements for both sides??

Hoping Kobe4ever has great results from bimmerplug version. Otherwise the only other option is OEM and sure as f*** not trying to pay that price

Let us know if you can see the manufacturer name on the back of the lights.

I finally received and installed the AKD lights from the Aokeding Official Store from Aliexpress. Took over a month from purchase, even though I ordered it with 1 week shipping. I guess they were making a new batch since I see the manufacture date of 03/24 on the label.

However, I do NOT recommend them. The fitment is just okay and I tried the washers to line it up on the outside light. However, the lights on the trunk still stick out unevenly and the 3D lights do not line up and protrude differently. It's a minor issue but does not look good on our X5. I can live with it since I know the price is not OEM.

The worst is that the lights do not sync up correctly. When unlocking and locking the car, the left trunk light does not follow and stays off. It works with signaling and emergency light, so it's not a dead led issue. I know another member said to wait a bit and let the computer "learn". It adjusted for a brief moment, then later last night and today, the lights still do not sync up. The left one just won't stay on. I can post a video later.

I messaged AKD on Aliexpress and they just responded to me to whatsapps them for future communication. Then they said that they will send me a resistor that I needed to solder in myself to potentially solve the issue. WHAT? I need to fix this myself instead of sending me a new left light? The quality and the plug and play workaround from the Pre LCI just isn't' there. I don't know if other members are seeing this same issue.

I would suggest people wait and see which brand comes up with a better solution. Too many problems with AKD.

Oh shoot mine don’t do that. They sync perfectly fine. The only issue I had was I have to reroute one wire on the inner tail, light passenger side.

Also, more bad news about the AKD taillights I received from the Aokeding Official Store. I found condensation forming in the right outer taillights this morning. I have a feeling quality control issues are going to be a concern going forward. Some may work from the get-go, but sooner or later issues may pop up.

Are the OEMs plug and play? Or does aftermarket have a special retro plug adapter for later years?

The OEMs for the LCI are not plug and play. The aftermarket ones have a special plug adapter and programming for the Pre-LCI X5s. Though some of these seem to be having some timing and sync issues.

Did you seal them with silicone before you installed them? I just messaged them on the left side. There sending me the right side free of charge. I would send them a message and see what they can do for you. They obviously know they have a problem and they’re going to try to refuse a free replacement. They will tell you that it’s normal at first. This is obviously not normal. Give them a bad review that’s what I did.

I didn't seal them with silicon. Actually I was debating if we actually needed too since modern taillights are suppose to be properly vented to let moisture out. Moisture is going to get in no matter what.

Aokeding said they were going to ship me a new right tail light and resistor with the syncing issue. We'll see when I get them. THEN they started asking if I wanted to give positive advertisement for their good customer service and if I wanted to make some money selling Aliexpress coupons for them, $50 for $100 to forum members. Shady as F!

So here’s an update so frustrated they sent me a replacement, passenger side, tail light that has the bmw logo. However, my originals don’t have that so now I’m asking for the driver side. How do I know this was gonna happen it seems like this is an updated version hopefully better than the originals without having a condensation issue.

Sorry, just seen this, I'll let you know tonight what it says I've been so busy. I can't find the time to get them installed just yet, but should be soon.
