Tire Bulge
Hello everyone, I have recently encountered an tire bulge and I am sitting here confused on what to do? Should I take action on it immediately? Is it serious?

That’s sidewall damage, cannot be repaired. You’ll have to get a tire replacement and soon, hit another pothole and it can burst. Ask me how I know.

Now a defective tyre. replace immediately. I wouldn't go much over 30/40 mph with that.

It may last thousands of miles or not. But it is dangerous to drive it like that, particularly at high speed. If you are only doing city driving at moderate speed it may very well hold for a while.
I would look into it A.S.A.P. |

Bottom line, the tire could blow at any time. Get it replaced. Depending on the depth of the tread on the remaining tires, if the difference in OD is too great, it might be best to replace all of them. The all-wheel drive system doesn’t like big variations in tire ODs.

It doesn't even need a pothole. It could fail from heat, load, impact, or a.y combination of those that you're not expecting. Any sort of sidewall defect needs addressed immediately, like stop where you're going and get it replaced when you see it immediately. It could catastrophically fail literally as soon as the next time you drove it

Let's talk experience... I have used, and seen other's use, bulged tires a lot, you better be careful, do not drive fast, but there is not an inminent catastrophe about to fall upon you. You may hit some more pot holes, just order a new tire soon so you do not find yourself stranded by the road side.
I have also had some perfectly good tires surprisingly blow up for no reason while at speed with no further consequences at all, just take it easy, and brake calmly. The fatal accident caused by a blown tire is not that common nowadays, but it is a common TV scene. |

Better replace it asap so it doesn’t blow and damage an expensive wheel or risk injury.

I ran a sottozero 3 with a bulge in it this winter. Needed to get one last season out of the set. I would not recommend or suggest doing it but it can used for some mileage. Probably don't want to get too far from home/tire shop. The wife's handy work on a run flat that didn't have bulge. Somehow it didn't bend the wheel. |

Tire needs to be replaced. Not safe to drive at higher speeds.
