Those of us that are getting their news cars delivered... it would be interesting to track what iDrive version number is being installed at the factory, and how often there are incremental updates.

Updates come out very frequently, sometimes a few in a week. The factory does not install the latest version though, they are often behind quite a few minor versions. Dealers are able to get the latest versions as they are released.

That is disappointing! I would have thought the factory would install the very latest version.

No, unfortunately new vehicles will always be behind. There are very few dealers that update iDrive as part of PDI and from what we have seen only if you ask them to. Most will say there is no need to update it.

Appreciate the info! My car comes in next week and I'll ask them to update the iDrive to the latest version. Never hurts to ask!
