Didnt think the inside would be shiny as I assumed that the whole tail pipe trim would be blacked out as part of the extended shadowline. What is the best way to black this out?

Saw this part on bmw site, is this like a slip-on part to black out the inside or would I have to remove the existing trim?

If I'm not mistaken, that link is for the actual outer trim in matte black and not the exhaust shroud (inner shiny part of your exhaust). There have been a few posts on this and you can view it here:

Mine came shiny as well and I basically did it myself. Just mask the area and use very high temp (VHT) paint. Have it dry properly and for extra measure, I also used a heat gun as part of the process in-between paint passes and curing time. here's a pic of mine:

rundeyvoo thanks for the info! I would have to wait until summertime before I tackle this. Heat gun + hot weather might give me a better result.

I agree that late spring or summer would be the best time. I’ve had mine on for about a year and it’s going strong, no flaking or cracking so far 🤞🏼

I used plasti-dip on mine because I had some on hand - the area doesn't really see enough heat to require VHT paint but using it can't hurt if you have that on hand instead.

Many thousands of miles later mine still look like I painted them yesterday,
