My dad's first car was a 1987 Honda Prelude Si I think. He said the engine blew on the highway at 220k miles

I had a 1986 Prelude Si as well and that thing was so rock solid. Went 250k miles before the floor boards literally rotted out and the driver's seat fell to the ground

Not joking at all, I sold it to my brother and he DID fall through the floor sitting at a stop light! Haha. He was a courier at the time and just needed a car that run, so he put a few sheets of aluminum and bolted the seat onto a piece of plywood placed under the seat. Lol

Oh man, my friend Russ had a Coronet of similar age in HS. Driving the dirty back roads with six or so people in it, doing many bad things, was often our weekend entertainment. Two of the girls in our gang had the last name, "Call". My brother & I liked them long time.

1990 Mustang GT in bright red. It was an automatic with 2.73 gears. The 1/4 mile time on it was high 15’s and I would get smoked by tweaked mopeds from a standstill. I then saved up some money, changed the rear to a 3.55, added a Hypertech power module(I’m showing my age here), and a set of underdrive pulleys. Ran a 14.1 and I was hot sh!t now!

Kinda, it mixes air and fuel in an engine for combustion. The gas generator we have has a carburetor.

I had a 65' Malibu 283 briefly (parents let me drive for a few months), but first car I bought was a 79' TA, white with blue bird. Loved that car....paid $3K for it, only had 50K miles on it.

In 1989 after working my ass off fueling boats and installing cell phones....I financed a used 1987 Audi 4000CSQ (my dream car at the time).

Even back then loved me a German 4-door. Funny thing was in the 80's few understood just how cool a sports sedan was and often asked me why I was driving my parents car to high school. Worse yet why I bothered putting a sound system in my parents car (yeah that's right it was sporting a pull out Alpine CD player....yeah I was cool like that )

ps- was modding back then too - it had a Schrick cam and a straight pipe

At 16 my 1st car given to me was my mom's old 96 Camry coupe. She had went out and brought a new one in 2005.

A year later after working the weekends and nights after school I had save enough to buy my own car which I still have today.

First car I drove was a 1977 Olds Cutlass Supreme. That car was slow.

This was back in the days when, to "improve" efficiency, carmakers put small engines in huge vehicles. The Cutlass was a body-on-frame two door with long heavy doors, huge trunk and very long hood. A large car. Under the hood was a 231ci / 3.8L V6 that was underpowered for the day, and grossly underpowered by today's standards.

Mash the pedal to the floor and nothing much happened. A distant, strained whirring sound came from a generally forward-in-vehicle direction. And not much else.

Black exterior with black vinyl Landau roof, and tan velour interior. With all of the trunk space, massive hood and long side doors, there was an amazing lack of space in the rear seat. It was very much a car indicative of the period.
