Comfort access auto open/ close

So I am loving the feature that the doors auto open when you get close and auto close when you walk away. I did find something odd though. When you open the trunk after you park then close the trunk, the auto close does not work. Does anyone know if there is another setting to allow this? Meaning the doors do not auto close after using the trunk after you park.

Had this issue today. It's happened a few times and I've been trying to see what I'm doing wrong or as far as steps. I guess pressing the close and lock button on the cargo door is the way to go, but you'd think it would still try to lock automatically based on the car settings when we walk away.

It just happened to me twice on the 3rd day of driving. It did not lock the door automatically when I walked away. I did not even realized that until my daughter told me so

My wife complains about this, she typically does not open the back, usually gets out opens the back door to get her bag out and then closes and walks away - doesn't lock like 10% of the time. I have also caught it not locking when key is out of range here and there when I get out and walk away.

It is such a great feature but only if it works 100% and since it doesn't work 100% it is worthless as you have to either listen for the beep and lock if you don't hear it or just lock the car every time because the feature is flawed.

I experience the opposite, I have my G05 set to automatic lock, and as soon as I step out of the car it locks even if I’m getting out to fuel the car it would lock totally and I have to then unlock it again, this defeats the purpose of the option!!
It should lock when you walk away by 6ft !!
Anyone has experienced same issue?

Yes , same here. Get off from driver side, it locks up before I reach the backseat to get my stuff . Annoying, way too sensitive

Yep. Same issue. Better to be safe than sorry I guess, but it is a bit comical when you are working close to the car and it keeps locking on you.

Has anyone tested to see if it will not try locking if you have an active BMW Digital Key Card in the charging tray? I would try, but my card isn't paired with the car yet.

Mine will not autolock with my keycard in the tray when I get out and close the door.

I've noticed this too. But wonder if it's a "by design" feature. I question that because my CA has worked flawlessly otherwise THUS FAR😬

Have your side mirrors auto fold in when locked. It’s the easiest way to visually check if your BMW is locked. I have mine set to Auto Unlock but not lock when walking away with key fob. I don’t lock my BMW in my garage.

Oddly, mine works great even when I walk around the car. It only locks when I am about 6-7 ft away. The only time it doesn't lock for me is when I accidentally turn on the electronics after Auto Start/Stop has turned it off (force of habit to press the button). Outside that it works like a champ. Havent tried the trunk issue yet. I so rarely get in the trunk of the vehicle. I will count myself lucky I guess! I love the feature and the reason I never use the key card.

I'm with you, mine works great 100% of the time. I wouldn't know about the trunk/hatch either because if I am in there last, I hit the "lock" button on the hatch to close and lock it if I am going away from the vehicle.

Mine locks so quickly too. So when I get out of the car to pump gasoline, the car would lock before I reach and open the gas tank door!!
Do you think if I take it to the dealer they can adjust it, the distance should be 6 ft from the car?

One thing I find out is that don't not walk away until all doors closed. Otherwise auto lock may not work.

I had a missed opportunity to test this today. However, on previous X5s with comfort I would touch the handle after exiting the vehicle and once a passenger(s) exited and closed the door then it would lock.

Would it not be the same with the G05?

I had an episode today that was not unique.

I pulled the G05 in the garage and place the key on furniture to the left. I walked outside and as I am walking away from the car the lights go off and the car apparently locks. As I am returning, this cycle repeats.

I would not be thinking about this were it not for three weeks of open road driving that starts this week. What might trigger this kind of behavior? I have not experimented by having another person repeat my path.

Same for me. This is one feature that works correctly 95% of the time for me. I do listen for the beep while walking away for the 5%.

Nothings simple anymore - you need a logic diagram to figure this out but here it is from the manual.

Where is this option in the menu? I swear it was in the doors menu, but can’t find it after the software upgrade. Asking because I want to turn it off.

Personally I love that you can select auto lock and unlock separately.

I still like locking using the door handle as I am used to it from my last car. The Auto Unlock is great though and makes the opening experience just that much smoother.
