Apple Watch

Does anyone have any experience of pairing/connecting their Apple Watch directly to their G05 ?

Thinking of occasions where I leave the house for a quick trip, can’t be bothered to take the phone, but my cellular Apple Watch could connect to car and enable me to stream music and take phone calls....

Thoughts and feedback welcome.
Thanks.

I have a cellular Apple watch and I have used it to remote start the car to cool it and to lock the doors. I don't see a way to use it to stream into CarPlay.

I asked months ago when they were going to let us use our iW to unlock the car. However, we still not even use the iP to unlock the car and start the engine.

What version of iDrive-7 do you have? I have 7/2019.35 and iOS 13.1.

No way to connect bmw to Apple Watch directly. Apple Watch can pair to only Apple iPhone and EarPods.

I was worried this was the case but didn’t want to hear it out loud!!!
Sad face alert

Can someone please start an Apple petition to allow this functionality....! Would make so much easier on small local journeys I feel...

I am currently in Athens, Greece, and have been away from my car for quite a while. However, I have not seen anyone here report being able to use any kind of iOS device like the digital keys we got.

I can unlock, but need to use the digital key card to start my car. The bmw app does nt appear on my watch. What am I doing wrong?

With a current 3series I am able to use the Apple watch as digital key. You need to pair the iphone which the watch ist connected to first, then you can add the watch in the myBMW-App. Yes, it was a bit tricky.
After that, the digital key is in the watch's wallet and you don't need to have the phone with you to open the car.
Just tested it: If you put your watch on the "smartphone reader" it is even possible to start the engine - without having the iphone with you.

I think you're thinking of unlock from the myBMW app.

The discussion here is unlock and start using iPhone & Apple Watch NFC. Think of how you use Apple Pay, the same occurs for this. You have a BMW Card in the Apple Wallet and pull it up on the phone or watch, not the myBMW app.

Also, it seems that the myBMW app does not have a companion watch app at this time, whereas the ConnectedDrive app did. I don't see it installed nor in the Watch management app on my iPhone.

That is what I was looking for, but no watch app yet.
