Track orders in Europe using VIN?
How can order and build status be followed in Europe (and in particular Belgium) ?
My dealership says that in Belgium we can’t follow production using the VIN, only when it’s ready the Vin can be provided. I have the impression they don’t want to give it. A few years ago I found a fault using the VIN (wrong rims were ordered) so at least I could check the configuration |

I'm vewry interested to see the results of this. Mine was just ordered (I'm in Belgium as well, buying/shipping a US spec car).... but I was under the "assumption" that I would be provided a VIN at sometime too.

VIN is assigned only when the chassis is selected at the start of production...I was told. As of then, the number should be available also to you, mine was sent to me over email by BMW Munich (I work in Vienna AT).

According to the VIN my car was created on 26 sept 2019.
BMW is mainly using 'Wallenius Willhelmsen' for overseas car transport. So I looked up the schedule between Charleston and Zeebrugge using their site: https://www.2wglobal.com/webapps?min...ScheduleRWD%2F Found that the first transport from Charleston after 26th September was on 4th October. Various blogs claim that the car can be on a boat in as little as 2 days after production. On 6th October I asked my sales rep for an update. And sure enough my order was in status code 165. (= at sea/water). So I'm pretty sure mine is on this vehicle carrier called Taipan: https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels...MMSI-308921000 Ship is expected in Bremerhaven on 15th October and in Zeebrugge on 23th October. (you can see all stops of the trip using the Wallenius Willhelmsen website, click the vessel number for details and then 'time-line') I have no idea how long it takes for a car to get from Zeebrugge to the BMW dealership. Hope it helps some (Belgian) readers. update : a day after this post a new vessel was added. Left on 8th October and arriving in Zeebrugge also at 23 October (25th Bremerhaven) https://www.vesselfinder.com/vessels...MMSI-367063310 It will be a busy day in Zeebrugge. :-) Last edited by W0ut; 10-16-2019 at 02:04 AM.. Reason: incorrect date + update second vessel. |

Online tracking is not something BMW AG (the German company that builds BMW cars) provides to people who buy BMW cars.
The USA has tracking of builds because BMW NA set up a site and automated phone number to provide it for sales in the USA. BMW NA is the USA company (actually an LLC, a kind of USA corporation) that imports BMW cars and motorcycles into the USA and distributes them to dealers. Other regional importers could do the same thing if they wanted to. |

Looks like it's parked at sea. Anyway, it's foreseen to stay here a few days. It should leave the 20th October again.
I have read some posts that they complete (import?) paperwork in Bremerhaven. Maybe they can do it from sea and don't need to dock in the port. Not sure, this is just me guessing. We will have to wait till Sunday... |

K-Line is also transporting to Bremerhaven/Zeebrugge.
Currently the Drive Green Highway is at Bremerhaven and will be in Zeebrugge on 2019-10-19. The Apollon Highway is also moving forward, expected at Bremerhaven on 2019-10-22. I hope mine is on one of these 2!! |

This is the Drive Green Highway arriving at Zeebrugge at 15u30 local time, coming from Bremerhaven and Charleston. I think it is a better change your X5's will on that boat!

Mine (X5 45e) was put on the boat 29/10. I'm assuming the Tosca. Arrival 12/11 in Bremerhaven and 20/11 in Zeebrugge. Then customs and transport to the importer in Genk (from what I was told) and then finishing and transport to dealer near Brussels... Lets hope for delivery wk 49 or early 50... |

For Sweden delivery (also Norway/Denmark it seems), you can track the final 1-2 weeks through the transport company at http://www.skandiatransport.se/sv/TrackTrace/Detail
Sweden delivery is shipped to the harbor Halmstad from Cuxhaven so at https://www.hallandshamnar.se/hamntrafik/ you can check when the boats arrive from Cuxhaven to keep an eye at the first link if your car is offloaded from the ship. And the boats can be tracked at vesselfinder.com or similar sites as previous posts linked to. Waiting for the delivery of my x5 45e within a week so did some research To be honest somewhat surprised that so much information is publicly available. Also for other car brands and cars they keep in storage. |

Next Monday is a public holiday here as well. So delivery by the end of next week. Although I might postpone delivery until later this month to take advantage of the financial conditions that all car manufactures offer here in Belgium during December and January. (A (yearly) Belgian thing linked to the Brussels car show in January) |
