Thanks, I went for a test drive with a X5 45e this morning.
My impressions:
- The floor in the trunk is higher compared with the non-hybrid, but for me personally this doesn't matter. It's a big car with plenty of space which is more then enough for my daily needs.
- I had the impression the sound in sport mode was a bit less then the 40i model. Not sure if this is just me, or if there is really a difference.
- When starting the trip, the car said I could go 52 km electrically. I have done 20km electrically in my test drive of 60 km and it was saying I could still do 48 km, so I'm guessing with my driving habits I can easily get 70km of range out of it. The petrol usage was 8.2l/100km. (I did small roads, high way parts to get a good idea)

How did you feel the part of the trip in full electric? Is the power of the battery good enough for the weight of the car? Is the start as good as BMW seems to say?

Thank you for your feedback

Good question. For me personally, it felt too slow in this mode. I doubt I would do a lot of high way overtakes in this mode for example. But I may be biased because I'm used to having a lot of torque in my current car.

Thank you for your feedback. I'll pick up mine in february 2020 and my main trip is in the city so the full electric drive will be the biggest part of my daily drive. But it feels good to know that when you re in sport mode the 400 hp are pretty quick to work.

Did you try the air suspension during your trip? My dealer told me that you can only use 2 or 3 position when you drive and one more (the lowest) when you are park. If it's true is a little bit sad if ou can't use it with the lowest position beacause it gives a very sport look in my opinion

I didn't really play with it, but I noticed it changed itself when changing driving modes. I did try the button at the trunk to lower the suspension to see the difference in case you need to take out heavy things from the trunk.

Sport mode definitely does what you expect, even hybride mode felt very quick already

Got an update from the dealer.
No production date yet, estimated delivery moved up 2 months to the end of May 2020.

the individual color may be the reason.
My dealer also told me it may still change and be earlier

And from what I was told by the dealer they are freeing up already allotted Euro slots for the US market. Apparently there is quite a interest in the 45e stateside.

Fingers crossed you get back to the original delivery date.

BMW BELUX and the dealer have already re-ordered my new X5 45e as I ordered in April 2019. My first burned down last week :-(

BMW will try to push the production date to ASAP, technically that could be delivery at the dealer within 10weeks ...
Not sure if they will push that hard ?!

I guess for you, they can pull off something extra.
I'm not really worried about the delivery. (although waiting on new toys is not fun) My current car is not a lease and is still running perfectly, so there is no hurry.
It does have 210k km on it, I'm guessing I will reach 235-250k around delivery of this one. It will be for export so it shouldn't matter too much on the remaining value.

Damn Americans, since when do they care about hybrids, didn't see many last summer, only a lot of cars that you can only dream of in Belgium. (unless you are very rich and don't care about taxes)

Ordered the 45e in july 2019.
Somewhere in september the dealer told me my production week was set on W47.

This has changed to W15, somewhere around oktober 18th. Dealer has no clue why it was delayed, but says that i shouldn't expect it before april/may 2020.
That's 4 months extra!

hi Flippy,
that is a pitty, i ordered mine 2 months earlier and I am waiting for it to be delivered around mid december at my dealer...

My sales rep informed me that BMW AG did some reshuffle with the production slots... he had to disappoint quite some customers informing them that they had to wait some extra months... Good luck!

My order clearly says the 31/03/2020. When i asked my dealer about how bmw deals with these 2 extra months, he said bmw does nothing for their customers. In my case, it's not really an issue, i will just add more miles on my current car. But i can imagine some people really count on the delivery date, so if bmw fails to deliver, there should be some compensation or solution offered at least.

i actually don't have anything official on paper or on email informing me about the delay too. i only asked my dealer. So i still hope i will have it by the end of march.

that’s bad
We ordered end of June and ours was pushed forward with a few weeks. Was expected for W51 but the car just arrived in Zeebrugge and will be at the dealer in W49.
Really strange these differences
