Stone Guard on Radiators

I noticed that one of the small radiators (like the main radiator behind the front grille) has stone guards on them. However the passenger (LHD) side radiator doesn't have the guard. Is that normal?
See attached photos.

I have a 2020 X3MC and it's exactly the same as yours. I say normal.

Anyone considered adding a grille mesh to protect these exposed radiators?

The worst one is the one underneath. Major liability. Any pebble hitting it from gravel road or highway drains oil immediately thus ruining the engine.
Needs mesh protector. Some companies developed one for m5 and m3 but x5m most likely will need custom

Even more than stones, the problem is small insects (mosquitos, etc.) gradually clogging the radiator's fins.

Any summer evening drive gets a lot of them - and you can clean your dirty windscreen, but I haven't found an easy way to unclog a radiator - so, after a couple of years, quite a bit of cooling efficiency gets lost. This affects both the engine and the A/C.

Years ago in one car I could reach the radiator from behind and blast compressed air through it. You would not believe the amount of stuff coming out of the fins!
