Thank you & can't wait to see yours! The G80 paddles are very nice, with the textured, rubber backings and the cut-outs for the plus & minus markings.

I went with AutoTechnic's purely based on looks, to me they're very Ferrari-esque for my (in-comparison) much cheaper, poor-man's car. Unlike the Ferrari paddles, obviously, ours isn't column-mounted. I had these same paddles in my M5, but in painted aluminium. What I didn't like was the subtle flex when pulling the paddles at the top tip. I'm hoping the carbon ones are much stiffer to the pull.

The trim and shifters are great.
I'm sure it will look even better with the wheel you are getting

The more I look at the stock steering wheel the more I want to buy a new one with flat bottom and CF.

Finally received steering wheels today.

long story short, i had carbon steering wheel for previous x3M however there was no heated & touch sensor, meantime i installed to use it gave up two things. and ordered from Emil's steering wheel.

my previous one was different vendor and i used to order from him.
But he was not able to do heated & touch sensor..(he said"carbon steering wheel usually no heated" so i didn't ask him anymore..)

just compared two steering wheels see photos.
Left one is previous, right one is from Emil

But ended up i liked one all functionally working & slightly smaller & lighter & side alcantra is more comfortable(because senosr & heating element are under there) than previous one.

just minor thing was bottom flat part that is slightly sharp flat than my previous one..i expected bit more roundish and thick..

Overall, i am happy to have that.

thanks guys who shared information

Why does it look smaller? Isn't it an OEM with flattened bottom and CF work?

Yes it looks smaller

That I missed point as well
Base is same but I guess when they applied carbon, one that from Emil's slightly thinner than my previous one.

Question you have heat but what about the touch sensor for the auto steering portion? I've reached out to a couple members here and Emil they say you need to use a button instead of just touching the wheel now... Can you confirm what button needs to be pressed to allow it to self maintain the lane? I tried with OEM wheel and none of my buttons will stop those yellow lights from flashing. It forces me to touch the wheel.

Hard to believe this thread is still going and so many of you opted to have a wheel made with Emil. Exciting and glad to have a craftsman that can give us what we want since BMW cannot or will not.

i will try tomorrow as well anyway. today here weather was really bad snow & rain...

Thank for checking this, I'd like to confirm function.

So you put it in assisted driving mode, Cruise on, lane keep function on. And every 30 secs it will flash yellow at you to touch the wheel (where your sensors are) and after touching the yellow warning lights turn off and you are good for another 30 sec.

What I'm trying to get cleared up here is does it work as OEM (I know the location you touch the wheel might move) but its not you pressing a physical button on the wheel just reaching up putting a few fingers on the wheel's back side and it continues on as normal?

Id like to know this as well as I've been told it works just like the stock wheel.

Happy to get this piece of auto art onto the car ... expertly fitted by Dale & his team at Autoworks Services in Swindon, UK, along with some other stuff:

https://www.autoworksservices.co.uk/

Comments ...

1. it transforms the driving experience for me, the carbon is beautiful, and i love the flat-bottom (so much so that going around 90-degree corners is now a pleasure as it allows me to see the full 360-degrees of the wheel!!). pressing that lovely red starter button, and seeing this beauty in front of you really makes you feel like you're in a special car

2. the heated aspect is a bit of a let-down if i'm honest ... the carbon area isn't heated, so it's just the leather, but the heat comes through much more slowly than on the stock wheel. but, i can live with it, it just means that there isn't much point turning on the heated wheel for journeys of less than around 15 mins

3. buttons all press just as they did, build quality is no different to stock ... except that the upshifter 'sticks' a little, whereas the downshifter is instantaneous. i've messaged Emil about this just to see if there is a fix for this, but i'm probably being a bit over the top in terms of fussiness

4. the wheel itself feels a touch smaller than stock - i must say i found the stock wheel both on my X5MC and my wife's X5 40i to be a little too large ... not "driving the school bus" large, but on the X5MC it just doesn't say "M car" to me ... this slightly smaller wheel is just right

Not hard at all. If you're using your original shift paddles, they pretty much easily swappable in by an experienced technician or if you're capable.
