Forged Wheels or not

I have been reading reviews on the 2020-2021 X5M, both base and comp models. Some say the 21"/22" wheels (either style) are forged and others don't make any mention of it.
So anyone know for sure?

Just an update. Only the 818M wheels are forged.
The 808M and 809M's are cast.

Is one better than the other? I'm an engineering dunce!

Forged wheel is made from a solid block of metal.
Cast is most likely molten aluminum poured into a mold.

Forged being from a solid block is stronger, eliminating porous cavities, stronger, tighter grain structure. Lasts longer over time, can probably take more abuse. Can weigh less in general as well.

Thanks, i've learned something new today!

Presumably BMW think the non-forged wheel is strong enough etc ... but is this a reason then to pick the 818Ms would you say?

an in-between would be flow forged or hybrid forged where it starts off as cast but gets forged under pressure during the shaping stage. they still end up being stronger but weighing less than fully cast wheels as well as costing less than fully forged wheels. the weakest area remains the central hub from the original cast.

photo taken was my car with the boss of the shop that fitted MSS springs car ...

thought it was a worth a photo as we've both got MBB X5MCs!

and, it allowed a direct comparison of just the wheels, with identical MBB colour and identical MSS ride height

Two awesome looking X5M's Maybe it's the angle of the pic, but it seems the one on left is lower

I think for daily driving it wouldn't matter much whether your wheels are cast or forged. I just go by which style I like the best and in this case, I went with the 809M wheels.

the right car is mine ... photo on the day of fitting, whereas the other car had the MSS fitted a while ago

apparently the height settles down after a few hundred miles of driving, so i'll post a photo after 1,000 miles ... after 200 miles i can already see the stance is a mm or 2 lower

Does that void warranty on the suspension? How much of an improvement in ride and handling quality?

I'd say what you think looks better. How much will this experiment cost? Or are you deciding before you buy the car?

If you have the car already and you're gonna spend the money maybe just go with aftermarket

BobsM3Coupe Curious where that level of information is found? The online ordering app that a dealer uses? I don't see it documented anywhere else publicly afaik.

i've already bought the X5MC, with 808s ...

i do like the 818s, but not enough to swap - so possibly some after market wheels, likely vossen, but would like to see these on a car first, as i'm too chicken to be the first!!
