"ECU reading"

Hello. I've just bought a used X5 (G05). It was sold as having just had a service, but it turns out this is not the case!
The vendor is offering some money as compensation but they want me to provide an "ECU reading".
I asked them what they meant by this & they have said "All you need to do is go to local garage who do BMW repairs and they will plug the vehicle in and get an accurate reading from all instruments."
Is this something I can do myself or would it have to be a dealer?
I have bimmercode & bimmerlink.
Thanks
