130 MPH Club, Bonneville Salt Flats

At the Bonneville Salt Flats... If a driver reaches 130 mph from a dead stop within one mile he (or she) can join the 130 mph club.

I'm curious. What stock BMW models could currently join this club (if any)?

I would hope your 325i could make it.. They trap what 90mph in the 1/4 mile. My 328i will hit 110 on this stretch of road that is just a tad longer than 1/4 mile I measured it using GPS and it was .28x of a mile. But then again an indicated 110 mph is only 101-102 MPH real speed.

NA cars will have a hard time due to the 4200 ft elevation. My guess is that the 335i coupe *might* be able to do it but it doesn't look easy.

Shouldn't ALL of the 3's be able to do this? Or is the altitude that big of a deal?

Haha sounds cool but scary... I may want to hit 130 too much and run out of driveway to brake...

It's not just the altitude, which will wreak havock on forced-induction engines, but the traction on the salt and the ambient pressure and temperature.

Perhaps a procede-tuned 335i with 95+ octane gas may be able to squeeze in.

Diesels don't have problems at heights

3 more weeks and I'm gonna drive in the alps with my 335d at 3000-6000ft

Ah guys..just an FYI...that 130 mph club is not as easy as you think..your car actually goes slower on salt. My friend does that event frequently. I am sharing his car at an event in two weeks..can't wait.
