Ceramic coating on new car

I am picking up my Brooklyn Grey X5 50e on Saturday. How long should I wait before having a ceramic coating applied? Couple of months for the paint to cure?

Immediately, no need to wait.

No need to wait but the longer you wait and potentially improperly wash it, the more time will be required to properly paint correct. Also depending on where the car is parked you might have to deal with water spots and/or other crap on the paint.

Avalon King Armor Shield IX is the easiest DIY coating out there. I've used 4 different coatings and the AKAS9 is by far the easiest to apply. Lasts about 2 years.

OP, one thought to consider. I had the dealership remove the plastic so I could make sure there was no damage, but I requested that they not wash the car. Less paint correction for the detail shop to have to square away. The dealership understood and followed instructions perfectly, and the detail shop was very happy.

the sooner the better, but YMMV because your overall environment is different. i got my wife’s G30 done a month after taking delivery; luckily no paint correction needed prior to ceramic application

I used Gyeon Evo Mohs on my GX, after paying a good detail shop to coat our X5. It's a lot of work, but that work will net you results as good as the pros.

Cool, thanks… These Gyeon products seem a lot more advanced than other ceramic coatings and at a reasonable cost. I’m going to try when my x5 comes in.

Wait until after you do some decontamination and paint correction. Yes, even new cars may require both decon and paint correction. Do it immediately after those two.

As previously stated, you'll want to make sure any decon/correction is done first, even new cars can need it.

I've been using GTechniq CSL & EXO V4 with good results.
