Pantera with a BMW M identity crisis

check this out:

https://www.mecum.com/lots/SC0519-37...o-pantera-gt5/

Sporting ///MSport colors.

The write up says original 1971 colors. What year did BMW adopt those colors?

This car was way before even the M1.

Interesting.

https://bimmertips.com/origin-bmw-motorsport-colors/

Supposedly ~ 1975. So Pantera beat them to it. Crazy coincidence or....?

Perhaps the middle color isn't quite the same, but still darn close.

I'm not seeing this anywhere in the writeup. It does say original colors, but not from 1971. This car, being an '82, and with the information below, tells me that someone just liked the M1 colors and copied them to a Pantera.

Thanks for making me check my work. I was looking at a bunch of Panteras and got the year wrong. This IS an '82, not a '71.

"Imported to the United States on May 22, 1983 by Claude Dubois of Special Automotive Marketing International (SAMI) in Switzerland to Guy Anderson of the Exotic Car Store in Smyrna, Georgia"

Still pretty interesting, especially looking at the M1 someone posted and this one back to back.

They look like brothers from another mother. But I suspect the V8 Ford engine in the Pantera maybe more reliable, less expensive and easier to repair.
