Thinking of ordering one of these but need to factor in getting out of my existing PCP for my m50d.

Any idea what an expected delivery date would be if I ordered late September?

I placed my order at the end of June, the build is at the end of September (week 40) with mid November delivery. They estimated 5-7 weeks for delivery to the UK.

My salesman did say that they’re expecting high demand for the hybrid and that the order book would fill up quickly.

No idea about UK. When ordering in Belgium now, the expected delivery is February / March.

However all dealerships tell me that the X5 45e is a huge success in Belgium. It receives the same tax incentives here as a 100% electric vehicle (Tesla etc...).

BMW works with designated production slots. So you might be able to get one earlier if the model is not that popular in your area / country.
